Question for the girls with long sleeve dresses

Jessica, on January 15, 2020 at 10:53 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8

What movement did you have. The lady who tried to get me to pick another dress because I lost too much weight (i didn't I found another person to alter my dress) said that I would not be able to raise my arms. If anyone could give me a better idea of the limitations I will have in my dress it will really help me.

I haven’t had my wedding yet but my dress has been altered. It has long sleeves and I don’t feel like it will be constricting at all. It’s a crepe dress, so overall probably less restricting that a standard ballgown for me 🤷‍♀️

I haven't had my wedding yet either but based on trying my dress on several times I didn't feel as though the sleeves were restrictive at all. Different materials and designs will be different though. I definitely have a regular dress or two that do limit my arm movement some

I don’t feel any restrictions at all. I think it’ll vary widely between dresses but also how often are you going to have to put your hands up in the air?

A coworker of mine had a long sleeve dress and one of the sleeves ripped under her armpit unfortunately, luckily you couldnt see it unless she pointed it out. Hopefully you have some more flexibility

I'm in a long sleeve dress also. Sheer in May. I love the look and don't feel like it's constricting at all.

I didn't end up with a long sleeve dress but tried a few on because I love the look. I ended up not choosing a dress with sleeves because they restricted my movement a bit. It depends on the fabric of course, but the dresses I looked at had lace on the arms and in some cases I couldn't lift my arms past my shoulders in the sample size, which was usually a bit bigger than I was and needed to be pinned. So in my correct size, the sleeves/shoulders would have been even tighter and more restrictive. Keep in mind that I'm athletic and do have broader shoulders, so someone with smaller shoulders might have more movement. But in general, if you want the sleeves to look fitted and the material doesn't have a lot of give, I think most will feel somewhat restricted in a long sleeve wedding dress. My FH is 7 inches taller than I am and I want to be able to put my hands around his neck when we slow dance, and I like to dance with my hands in the air for faster songs, so the long sleeved dresses I tried were too restrictive for me. If you aren't a person who lifts up your arms much or you went with a dress with a stretchy material I don't think it would be as much of an issue though.

My sister had long sleeves but I don't remember her having any problems with lifting her hands. I guess it depends on a particular dress but in general I don't think you will face any difficulties
