Question for Doctor Brides

I think you can have them switch it after you are married...

If you are planning to take his last name, I would definitely do a name change first before taking boards and applying for licensure. It will be a logistical PITA ie taking longer to get on insurance panels which might affect if you can practice in the mean time, not to mention paying extra fees for name change, certificates, etc. Also, I assume that you would want to relax after the wedding, boards, and not have to worry about all these extra steps.

I'm not changing my name but I've been board certified for 3 years now so I'm in a different position.

If you are planning to change your name I would do it before boards because I've heard it's a nightmare but haven't done it myself so sorry can't be more helpful!

I do not plan on changing my name. However one of the doctors at my clinic changed her name recently. I know it was a lot of work for our case managers.
