Question about my coffee bean center pieces!?!?!

Elizabeth, on April 28, 2011 at 4:54 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 11

So I decided to do center piece that involve coffee beans. They will be on a 36" square table. The vases I will be using are below:

My questions are:

Should I fill vase #1 with coffee beans or water? There will be flowers in the vase as well.

How many of vases (#2) should I put with/around vase #1? The small vases will have candles in it with coffee beans on the bottom.

How many lbs of coffee beans do you think I will need? I will have roughly 14 - 20 tables.

If you are using real flowers and depending on the flower you are using I'd be afraid of how logn they would last. Some flowers can go longer without water. But the pics are beautiful.

Oh also, not sure how much they are, but you could buy some of those water picks that florist use on single roses.

These dont' look too bad. Depending on how many many stems you'll be putting in them of course, but the beans may cover the tubes....just a thought.

I agree with everyone else. Depending on what type of flowers youre using you may want to just put water with in the bigger vase with the flowers and then coffee beans in the smaller with the candles. I think one large vase with 3 or 4 small around it would look nice. I have no idea how much coffee you'll need though.

I think I will be doing water in the big vases and coffee beans and candles in the smaller vases. I am thinking I might only need 5lbs which will cost me about $40 (cheaper buying it in bulk than in the stores).

You can still put coffee beans in the main vase aswell just get the florist to put the stems of your flowers in those little green water tubes that they stick on the bottom. That will keep the hydrated for the night and if you or guest want to take them home just plop them in water where you get there.

Alannah: I am doing the center pieces myself. I am not using a florist.

Elizabeth G.: I will be using real flowers.

If you're still wanting to do coffee beans and flowers in one vase. I sugggest picking up a few stems of your selected flower and doing a trial run to see how well they last! I love your ideas too, btw!
