Question about ceremony music - can a dj do it?

Harts&Bows, on May 10, 2017 at 2:51 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

Hi All,

So the music aspect of a wedding is pretty foreign to me and I'm just now digging in. We are doing an outdoor ceremony and a reception in the same space. The space does have some traffic noise that should die down as the evening wears on (looking at a 5:15-5:30 start), so I would like pretty consistent music. We are on a tight budget so I don't know that we have the means to hire a wedding musician and a DJ. What have others done? Can a DJ also do music for the wedding? Just looking at ideas/options. Again, new to this aspect of the planning process and any feedback to help me in navigating this part would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Our DJ is providing music for our ceremony and reception. I would look into what they offer and if they do not, try to negotiate it.

You can absolutely have your DJ do your ceremony music.

Most of our weddings that have DJ's for the reception have DJ's for the ceremony too. They also provide sound for your officiant.

Yes, the dj usually does it. Just make sure you let them know, so they can figure out where they need to set up, run wires etc.

They should be able to, but like others said, depends on electrical needs.

Thanks, guys. It is outdoors but there are a couple of outlets spread throughout the site, so I think/hope it will be okay. I'll start reaching out to DJs this week. I really appreciate you guys helping ensure I'm not asking too many dumb questions Smiley winking
