Quarantine Reveals

Kayse, on May 13, 2020 at 3:48 PM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 4

Has the quarantine situation revealed sibling favoritism to anyone else? I mean I always knew I wasn't the favorite child, but I'm having a hard time not being hurt that my parents have continued to see and help my brother and sister-in-law this entire time, but they avoid me like the plague. I've thought about just asking my mom why she's chosen to do this, but I don't want to make her angry or defensive. Can anyone relate?

My siblings still live with my parents, so I don't really have this problem. As a RN in the ICU I know I'm person non grata nine times out of ten, and I don't take offense to it. Are you in healthcare or something that makes you a high risk?

Are you the older child? If you are then that's probably just younger sibling preference as per usual, lol.

If you're that bothered by it then you should address it with your parents, and let the cards fall where they may.

No, that's the thing...both FH and I are working from home while both my brother and SIL are going to their work places. I am the oldest though.

I don't have any siblings and I relate. My mother and I have an extremely dysfunctional relationship, and I haven't heard a peep out of her since *before* our wedding, which was last August.

Bonus: she's the parent who lives in-state.

Meanwhile, my MIL is always calling to check in on us. I'm getting used to it!
