Quantity of Plastic plates and glassware, Do my numbers look ok?

Monica, on January 2, 2020 at 4:24 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 5

One big thing I need to check off my list is dishware/silverware/and glassware. My estimate is 150 people (hopefully less lol)

So heres the deal. My caterer does provide plates but they are paper plates. My mom and I really want chargers on the table and chargers + paper plates do not go together. So I am purchasing plastic dinner plates and salad plates that have a gold rim on them. I am getting clear plastic 12 oz cups for a combination of beer, margaritas, and agua frescas (juice). I am also getting clear stemless plastic 12oz wine glasses ( I really wish there was a smaller size but the cheapest options are either 12oz or 4oz and I think 4oz cups look too tiny). And last I am getting clear plastic champagne flutes for the table setting for the toast.

We are doing everything ourselves except the caterer will be serving food at the buffet but that's it, so there is no one serving water or wine at the tables, so theres really no need for a bunch of glassware on the table. I suppose I could put a pitcher of water at each table but then again WHO is going to set it up for me? For drinks we will have coolers/tubs with sodas cans and water bottles, There will be 2 Large barrels of agua frescas for the guests to serve themselves.

Our "bartender" is a friend of a friend who is essentially going to simply serve drinks. I don't want to confuse him with the different size cups so at the bar 12oz cups are for beer and margaritas and 12 oz wine glasses. The drinks at the bar will be Beer, Sangria, Pinot grigio, and frozen margaritas.

So this is the plan of what im thinking. Please just glance over it and tell me if the quantities sound about right or if u suggest me to increase the numbers.

For estimated 150guests. These numbers are based on the quantities that are sold in the packs im considering purchasing/have purchased

Dinner Plates and salad plates= 480 total (240 for each dinner & salad)

Cake and appetizer plates = 480 total (240 for each, which im sure is way more than enough)

Silverware= 680 forks (for dinner + salad, appetizers, and cake), 180 knives, 40 spoons (no need for spoons but comes in my pack that I bought)

12oz plastic cups for beer/margaritas/agua fresca= 1000 (do I need more?)

12oz stemless wine glasses= 320 or 380? ( or more?)

5oz champagne glasses= 192

My day of coodinator estimated that people will roughly have 1 drink per person per hour. I think 1000 cups is reasonable and not everyone will have champagne and wine so I think those numbers are good too. If each person is going to have salad with dinner I'd make sure you have enough for 2 plates per person. Cake and appetizer plates are good, not everyone will likely eat cake anyway. and I think you're good on the silverware! One thing I would buy is napkins. We had napkins at the bar, cake table/cookie table, and the app table. People like to have little cocktail napkins in case they spill or anything!
