Putting ring on after vows

Amanda, on June 7, 2020 at 4:14 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 14
So, in order to put my wedding ring on, you have to take my engagement ring off, and then put the engagement ring in between the wedding band to make it 1 ring. When we put the ring on the ring bearer pillow, will I just put my engagement ring and wedding band together so that it is one ring? Then, I'll walk down the aisle with nothing on my left hand? Advice and opinions, please!

Okay, thank you! I was kind of thinking that. I wanted a second opinion.

Definitely. I'll be walking barehanded as well. I'm getting my engagement ring soldered to my enhancer so that way it wouldn't be a long process for FH to take off, put together and slide back on AND we wouldn't have to worry about losing either piece.

I agree. I put my engagement ring on my right hand for the ceremony since the wedding band is supposed to be closest to your body. After the ceremony, I put my engagement ring back on my left hand. So I didn't have anything on my left hand when I walked down the aisle.

Thank you! Unfortunately, no one is soldering due to Covid, but my 2 pieces fit VERY snug together, so it should go smoothly.

Oh! Guess that makes sense. Well that's good that it's snug!

Yes, that’s best. I put my engagement ring and wedding band on during our ceremony and it’s not weird or anything to walk down without your engagement ring on.

How it's usually done is you wear your engagement ring down the aisle. During the exchange of rings, add the wedding ring to your finger. Then after the ceremony, you rearrange the rings in whatever order you prefer.

I forgot to take off my engagement ring before, so when we were saying vows, I just quickly moved the engagement ring to my right hand and then moved it back after the ring exchange.

I'd do it as one unit, too!

You may want to consider putting a fake ring on the ring bearers pillow and having the real ones safe with the best man or FH.

What PP said- fake ring on the pillow. This is very common.

There are a bunch of different ways to do this.

Sometimes the bride puts her e-ring on her right hand or has a bridesmaid wear it when the groom puts her wedding band on her naked finger. I still wore my e-ring on my left hand and just had my husband put my wedding band on over my engagement ring and then switched them (so that the wedding band was closest to my heart) later. If your wedding band is an enhancer style band, I'd either put both rings together and have him put them on as one unit, or I'd have your e-ring elsewhere when the enhancer band gets put on your naked finger, then combine them later.
