Putting attire on invite/details card?

Difficult conundrum...would it be inappropriate/overbearing if we put something in the details for the reception asking people to NOT dress in all black? I am asking because my FH will be in all black, our ushers will at least have black shirts (maybe vests too, haven't figured that fully out yet), and the dress I'm looking at is black as well. I know black is a very common color to have in the closet...

While I understand you don't want others in black, it wouldn't be appropriate to dictate what your guests wear. Black is a very popular color especially for men to wear to a wedding.

No, you don't get to tell people what to wear at the reception other than the bridal party.

No, dont' tell people what to wear. Black is super common and wont take away from your H at all. They know who the groom is.

This would be very inappropriate and overbearing. Black is the most common color of formal wear. If my husband and I were invited to a wedding where the invitation asked guests to not dress in black, we would decline.

It’s inappropriate to say anything to guests about what to wear or not wear. They are not props for pictures. The exception is when the venue requires guests to wear black tie attire to enter the venue.
