Pure romance (or the same type) party

Heather, on April 30, 2011 at 11:19 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7

Ok... The last discussion was super helpful... So maybe one of you ladies can help me out with this one....

I wanted to do a "toy" party for my bachellorette party. But when the Pure Romance consultant called me back, she said she could do the party. The only stipulation I had, was that one of the people in attendance is a gay man, she said I would have to ask him to leave while she did the presentation. I dont really want to ask him to leave Smiley sad...

So, im in Georgia, do any of you ladies know someone I can call, or any other companies that do these types of parties?? Preferably one where I dont have to ask of my guests to leave.

Why do you have to ask him to leave! I think that's a little bit rude. I'm not in your area so I won't be able to help you with other companies but, I would tell that lady if she wants your business that ALL your guest will be present!

I think it has something to do with "company policy". We were kind of aware of it, but we didnt think he would have to leave.... She suggested he go to the lobby and sit there (alone) for an hour!!

Company policy my keester! I've been to several where a gay man was present- and he was a blast!

Try Passion Parties. You can google them and find a consultant in your area.

Um . . . if we can handle talking about sex and sex toys, why can't we have a gay man there as well? Not like it’s going to change anything that much. It's not like the company is a religiously based company! LOL! I'd find out what the company policy is on this matter. It's your party and I think it should be run the way you request or it to be run. If the other ladies in attendance are comfortable with him being there, I don’t see the issue.

I wonder if the issue isn't with the company, but rather the hostess. Does SHE have a problem with gay men? Sounds like the real issue here might be that it could make HER uncomfortable. In that case, just find another consultant in the Pure Romance group. (Just go on the website and explain your situation.)

If you choose to go with another party company, I'd be sure to let Pure Romance know exactly why you're doing so.

BTW, I'm having a Pure Romance party as well. I'll ask my consultant what the policy is to find out for sure.

Actually I am also a Pure Romance consultant and it is definitely company policy not to allow men or kids to any PR party. The best the consultant could do is to email corprate and try to get approval. Pure Romance was created to give women a comfortable, safe enviroment to educate themselves and explore their sexuality. Some women wouldnt feel comfortable talking about those things with a man present, gay or not. And if they dont feel comfortable just being there, I cant imagine they would feel comfortable enough to admit it if you just came out and asked everyone.

It's corporate policy as many women will not and do not feel comfortable with men in attendance....even though many will tell their friends it's ok w them.... Even if it's not
Cause they don't want to be that person
I do believe it said guy identified as a woman they can be there. I truly think you should do the party. It's Def not meant to be non inclusive. It's literally just because many women have had trauma or are uncomfortable with men in attendance and it leads to us being less able to help those women. Pure Romance is definitely a company meant to empower women and educate them on their sexual health The demo part won't include anything that would be for a mans use usually.

It's because pure romance is a company to empower and educate women on their sexuality
And many women have had trauma or abuse and even if they say it's ok as a guest... They often are not ok with it and it inhibits us from doing our job as a consultant
