Purchased a dress from DB now it's on sale!?

Marie, on April 7, 2013 at 2:07 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11

On Tuesday after trying on a dress in the store, I called the store and purchased it over the phone. 2 Days later the dress went on sale online for $150 less! I emailed customer service, but they need an order #, and there is no order number since I didn't buy it online. The store said they would snail-mail me the receipt, but I have yet to receive it. Anyone else had this experience, what did you do?

Can you return the dress and repurchase it? If not just stay on top of them. Tell them you are disappointed in the service and will not use them for your bridesmaids dresses. That may get a response. I know they called me right away when I told them I was not happy .

Yes that happened to me when I purchased my gown from them and it went on sale 2 weeks later. I just called the store and asked to honor the difference in price and they told me I would get store credit which is in the form of a receipt and won't expire for 5 or 7 years(check with your store). David's Bridal items are all Final Sale they will not refund but may possibly exchange or give store credit. Good Luck.

Call them. I bet they'll make good on it.

Thanks so much for your help! I ended up calling the store and at first, they offered store credit-- the problem is I already have a veil, and because I have a very-low back on my dress, they don't sell the proper bustier-- in short I probably couldn't spend the difference. They said they would call corporate to get approved to use the difference towards my alterations. But supposedly the store manager herself could not do this directly without approval.

Seems as if DB policies are very stringent.

That sucks, they should have told you about the sale! I tried on my dress on a Thursday, and they told me to wait until Saturday at least because a sale was starting. I did, and my dress was $200 off! I'd call and complain a little, and see what they're willing to do.

@Small Wonders - I kind of read your comments to indicate that DB ships the dress to China for alterations. Perhaps you didn't mean it that way, but they don't - all the work is done there on site.

However, I agree there are definately less expensive places for alterations! I would get a few quotes before making a decision keeping in mind that if SB screws up your alterations they can make sure you get a new dress...other places can't. So if the quotes are <$50 off, I would stick with DB...and then if they let you use the credit towards alts, even better. But I agree - they have BMdresses, party dresses for the rehearsal/shower/bach party, shoes, even FG baskets and stuff if you don't have everything already then perhaps the credit can go to one of those items.

I think every bridal shop I've ever been to have been All Sales Final - industry standard since brides have a bit of a reputation Smiley smile

Most Bridal Salons, including DB doesn't accept returns or do "price adjustments" once your dress goes on sale.

You can though take the dress to any alterations specialists of your choice for alterations once your dress arrives. I would recommend to have your dress altered by someone who is an expert in Bridal Alterations. This is an item you can't negotiate price..the costs vary depending on what needs to be done to the dress. You will have to go for at least 3 fittings before the final fitting is done to be sure the dress fits properly. Anyone that offers "free" alterations is including the price of such into the price of the dress...don't automatically assume they are included.

I think they must honor the sale price if you haven't taken the dress out of the store yet. You may want to question that. I would try for a price adjustment - no store credit.

They're the puppy mill of wedding dresses. Churning them out one after another. I'd take the store credit since it's better than nothing and check out their accessories and shoes.

I seriously hate when stores won't just refund the money. ARGH!
