Punta cana vs jamaica

We chose Punta Cana for our honeymoon because several people told us that it's one of the more inexpensive options yet still beautiful. We also wanted to go somewhere where there's a lot going on - we plan to relax a lot, but also want options to do things if we feel like it. Our travel agent also said it was one of the more inexpensive Caribbean destinations as far as airfare.

Jamaica is wonderful and I was there three times with my girlfriends, but I really wanted to go somewhere that I hadn't been before.

I went to Punta Cana with a friend and her family a couple of years ago and we loved it! It was very affordable and beautiful. The food at our resort was great and there were many different restaurants to choose from so we never got bored. Our resort had a couple of pools and one had a swim up bar with a volleyball court, which was really fun. The beach was beautiful, but the waves from the water can be kinda harsh. You will need LOTS of sunscreen. We all got SUPER burnt.

I've been to both, prefer Punta Cana

I've been to Punta Cana twice and am pretty meh on it, but all inclusives aren't really my style. I preferred Jamaica personally, but if you are at all uncomfortable with being around weed it won't be for you. It was comically over the top. Walking down the street people holding out giant stems like they are cotton candy and the hotel staff all offering to sell it comical. My two cents are that Mexico beats both in pretty much every single way.
