Pull the Plug?

Cassie, on November 19, 2020 at 4:51 PM Posted in Planning 0 7
At what point do we pull the plug. Currently, we have a destination wedding planned in Jamaica for March 9 2021. We have family booked to go with us (about 12). We have up until February I believe to cancel for our full money back, which is great! However, my fiance and I would want to keep our same date. Which creates a very short time for booking things. At what point is it just easier to cancel and use saaaay Simply Eloped to plan something here. Benefit of that is it could end up cheaper cost wise (for everyone, and less stress for covid), downside we don't get the all inclusive fun in the sun "weddingmoon". Part of me wants to figure it out now so we can relay plans to family over the holidays. Future hubby wants to wait until January to figure it out, and I just dont know what to do.

I would try to get a backup plan going now, but don't financially commit to anything for it (see if vendors can do a soft hold on the date, etc). Wait until January/February (before the deadline to get a full refund) before making a final decision. That way, if Plan A works out, great! If not, you would already have a good start on Plan B.

Definitely come up with a good Plan B and hope for the best! Numbers are just going to get worse until April or so.

FH has a point- wait until January. You don’t want to pull the trigger now only to regret it later. However, have a Plan B figured out.

I would come up with a plan B now because unfortunately I don't think things will be that much different in February. You could also have something small on your original date and plan a honeymoon in Jamaica once things get better.

Why not go ahead with the 12 people? Whoever wants to be there, will be there. We had about 30 people coming internationally and now it's looking like 12 (70 guests live in the country we are traveling to). My point is your main people will move mountains to be there. I certainly would do it for someone I'm close to.

I would pull. Sorry even if things are better than I don't think the feeling of "normal" will be here anytime soon. We are a week from December and just feel like 3 months out would be my final call. Who knows if things get worse and you cant fly out of the country. idk just cancelled my flight here in Ohio to Texas because just don't feel comfortable getting on a plane for the holidays. Ya i might be going to stay with family but your still interacting with an airport and on a plane.
