Publix cake?

Mrs. Holmes, on July 10, 2014 at 7:41 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 23

Is anyone else getting their cake from Publix? I had no idea they made wedding cakes until I went to a wedding festival a few weeks ago. Are they more affordable than cake shops?

They are more affordable than cake shops. We couldn't use them because the cake we wanted was a little too complicated. But I haven't heard any complaints from people who have gotten their cake through them.

When I lived in FL, I went to several weddings that had their cakes, and I thought they were very tasty, and well decorated. I miss Publix...we don't have them here Smiley sad

I was going to use Publix had my BM's mom not offered to gift us our cake. I love Publix for everything.

I would think it would be cheaper because (as with my grocery store flowers), you are just paying for the product. The company is paying for the time of the baker/florist. In a florist or bake shop you also have to pay for time or labor.

I live in Piedmont it's a small town between Greenville and Anderson. It's killing me that we are getting married in Clemson. Lol

My dad and stepmom got their wedding cake at Publix and it was DELICIOUS. I could have gobbled up that whole god damn thing.

Publix makes tasty damn cakes. They are MUCH cheaper than a bakery, at least here in Sarasota.

YES! My sister's wedding cake was from Publix and it was SOO good! Red velvet with a whipped cream cheese frosting, so good you'd eat every bit of it. It probably cost half of what a bakery would have charged. She got a 3-tiered cake with little dots piped all over it. It looked and tasted great.

I am quite familiar with Piedmont. I used to work for the Congressman that represents that district. I won't say his name because they have a google alert set up. My BM went to Clemson (she has to wear garnet and black for a few hours for me) and she and her boyfriend just moved to Anderson.

My fiance and I actually went to several cake tastings with "Professional Bakers" who have been in business for years, and most of them were just "ok". We were willing to use an actual baker but we refused to pay double the money just to have a "baker" fix our cakes and cupcakes when we could get the same quality cake from Publix. We are also doing a two tier cake with 100 cupcakes at the bottom. They will come and set up and you just have to rent the cupcake stand and bring it back after the wedding. Our total was about $250 which included everything even, delivery, set up, and renting the stand.

I made an appointment. They even let me choose three cakes and icing types and let us sample mini cakes Smiley smile

We're getting our cakes through publix. Ordered 4 tiers for $600 which will feed 300. That includes delivery and set up. I met with the decorator and she said just give her a picture and she can make it. They also allowed us to make payments Smiley smile.
