PSA: Shutterfly Photo Guestbooks

We'llAlwaysHaveParis, on May 17, 2013 at 9:26 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 5

I sent an email to customer service this morning.

"What type of pen does Shutterfly recommend using for the photo guestbook? I'm worried about it smudging or smearing."

Their response:

"Thank you for contacting Shutterfly.

You can write in the book with a regular ball point pen. A paper mate pen with a medium tip also works fine. Shutterfly uses an 80-pound paper stock for the photo book and it is an archival with an acid free glossy finish. Please note that it is not a high glossy finish. We request you to use a similar pen for the better result.

We thank you for choosing Shutterfly. Please let us know if we can offer any additional information."

that answers that :-)

Awesome, thanks! I was wondering the same thing. Thought I may have to use sharpies which wouldn't look very nice.

Oh. Good to know. Here I was about to go get a sharpie. Hoof to know!

ETA: Ha, I'm not even gonna fix that.

A sharpie might even bleed through the page

Actually, having tried various types of pens from ball point to roller ball and various sharpies, the one that I like best is the ultra fine point sharpie because it is thin so the writing stays sharp, it doesn't leave indentations like a ballpoint if someone presses too hard and it doesn't smudge. Seems to work well on different paper stock, not just Shutterfly.
