Providing own alcohol and bartender?

Emily, on February 20, 2018 at 9:14 AM Posted in Planning 0 9
Just got a quote for basically my dream venue. And its totally within my budget BUT we have to provide our own alcohol, event liability insurance and a insured and certified bartender(s). We're having a guest list of 100, luckily 10 of those of are no's already but etiquette says they still get the invite. Anyone have any experience purchasing the alcohol and how much? Or recommendations where to find a bartender in Lancaster/Reading Pa area? I did really want an open bar included but the food prices are low for buffet and it might come out to be the same as an all inclusive venue.

Aw, I was born in Lancaster and grew up in New Holland. So cool! Unfortunately, I'm not aware of any bartenders in the area.

We had to buy all of our alcohol, and we used this chart. It was very helpful! We found that purchasing all of our own alcohol will actually be more affordable than the upcharges incurred from an all-inclusive venue.

Have you tried Googling for bartending services in Lancaster? I did and several came up including Good Spirits and Just Bartending.

If you find a bartending service they should have the insurance and certifications needed. Just make sure to ask them, like you would any other vendor.

I also wanted to do an open bar, but our venue requires licensed and insured vendors, so I found a bartender for $175 from 3-10 pm. We will provide all the beer and wine. Venue does not allow hard liquor, and we do not like champagne. Google will be your best friend, or you can ask your venue for recommendations on vendors. Good luck!

We also have a venue that allows us to BYOB. We.are suppling the alcohol, beer, and wine through ACE Liquors and Virgin Wines. ACE allows for the return of unopened bottles. The bartenders are being supplied by our cater. FH did want to hire some of his bartender friends but in order for us to use our caters' liquor license (and not have to apply for our own) and their event insurance, we had to use their bartenders.
