Protecting Arms from Fabric

Brooke, on February 14, 2017 at 7:43 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13

So I know I've seen women talking about this on here, but I can't find the posts to save my life! My mom fell in love with this black beaded gown, but she refuses to buy it because the beading on the dress will end up rubbing her underarm raw if she wears it all night. I think I read somewhere that women had ideas on how to prevent the rubbing from the beading??

Help!

I think someone recommended deodorant and or no rub stuff that runners use but I may be wrong.

You could try Body Glide. I guess it depends on how much beading and how much chafing there is.

My seamstress will be removing the beading from the top of my dress right under my arms - gradually, so it looks intentional with the design.

I have beads on my wedding dress and my seamstress is removing the beads from under the arms.

I second body glide. I use that for my chub rub, and my bikini area after I shave in the summer and it works wonders!!!

It protects your skin from irritations.

Thank all of you! This dress looks absolutely amazing on my mom, plus it was a steal! I'd hate to see her let it slip by if the problem can be fixed!

A seamstress can add a layer of fabric so it doesn't rub or remove the beading under the arm. The dress I like has beading under my arms and I feel like I'd be super raw by the end of the night. Alternations for the win

I tried on a heavily beaded dress and the shop owner said the alterations lady places cheese cloth over the beading in the armpit area. That way you can see the beading, but you are protected by the cloth. I have no idea how it actually feels, I didn't end up getting the dress.

I posted a similar thread a while back (the lace on my dress chafes my underarms) and had suggestions to use body glide or liquid Band-Aids. Haven't had a chance to try yet.

I've also heard using baby power or cornstarch.
