Proposing to your Bridesmaids -- cheesy or?

Hi!

My name is Danielle, and I have been on this site for a while, so I figure this is the group to ask my questions to!

We aren't getting married until next spring, but I thought it would be adorable to "propose" to my Bridesmaids. My FH, my mom and my FMIL all think that I am being kind of silly and that I shouldn't waste my money. It wouldn't be coming out of the wedding budget, I just wanted to do something cute to show them what it would mean to me (and Etsy has so many cute ideas!!)

Did anyone else do this? What were your reactions? Should I just not waste my money and just do a bigger "thank you" gift?

@annakay I love your idea! Cute, but not too over the top

I forgot to add: if you choose to do this, don't make it so big that it turns into a 'I'm telling you that you will be my bridesmaid' rather than 'will you be my bridesmaid?'

Sometimes close friends have to turn down this honour for a variety of reasons that we might not expect, and if this is a big production it makes it really difficult for them to say no.

Awe ladies, thank you all so much for your input! I definitely wont spend a bunch, but will "pop the question" and see Smiley smile

@kLo, that is one of my biggest fears! I will definitely make sure its a question!

@Jessica, that is a PERFECT gift box! Adding Bridesmaids is awesome!

@Monique, that is so smart! I was going to get robes for the wedding day, but maybe I'll get tanks too!

@MrsBest2B @kLo, I was thinking more champagne and oj or something, because we really want to do "brinner" for our wedding dinner (breakfast for dinner. Our parents don't understand why we just aren't having a brunch wedding haha) so I thought maybe adding the making of a mimosa would be lovely Smiley smile

I did it and they loved it! All of my bridesmaids are in different states, so it was a nice way for everyone to get excited.

Mine cost nothing other than the ribbon and double sided tape. Helps that I'm a graphic designer, but the double side tape was $3 I think and the ribbon was I think $1.00 at JoAnns and A.C. Moore

I Sent a text with a picture of my ring on my finger and asked on 8/1/2015 will you be my bridesmaid? They all loved it just the same. I think the proposals are cute but just not my Jujjg.

I'm the matron of honor in a wedding next year. The bride proposed to me with a ring pop Smiley smile It was cute, inexpensive and I was surprised!

When I asked my bridesmaids, I did send them a little gift. A personalized tumbler, a mini champagne bottle, some eos chapstick and nail polish. Spent maybe $100 total, and they all liked it.

Do what you want, I enjoyed doing it partially because I have been engaged for over a year and it was something to do before I had a lot of wedding planning to do.

I got engaged right after thanksgiving so I took a pic of me asking them in a unique way (wrote out the question on a chalkboard frame I already had) and used a 2 picture frame - one pic was me asking & then a pic of the 2 of us. I gave them to them for Christmas gifts.

I bought them ring-pops and put them in a decorated box and attached a little sign to the ring-pop that asked the question "will you be my BM"

We did it. Don't care if it's cheesy. It was exciting for me because it was my first planning related thing to do. I have posted this a lot, but our venue is a ship, and we have 5 couples in the BP, so we did this. I don't consider it a waste of money because you really can't go wrong with booze.
