Did you know he was going to propose? Did you do anything to "prepare"? What would you have done to "prepare" if you didnt know he was going to propose?

I knew my FH was going to propose because I was there when he bought the ring. I knew exactly what I wanted and the timing was perfect. My grandmother was visiting us and all of my immediate family members were there. My FH and I discussed that I wanted him to ask my family for their blessing.

The crazy thing was that I was still surprised and shocked. I don't really know why. I knew what the ring looked like and that he was going to do it. But I was still speechless!

I knew he was going to propose because of my dad! I stopped at my parents one night and my dad was like so I got a phone call from your boyfriend and I gave him my blessing to marry you. I was in shock and I thought my dad was joking around and then he started to tear up. Then my dad told me when he was planning on doing it and I told my dad he was never supposed to tell me anything. I never told my FH that my dad ruined the proposal and I still cried and acted like I didn’t know anything!

I did not know he was going to propose. I literally told my coworker just a week before he proposed he never would because it was going on 4.5 years together and he didn't want to get married. My clueless blonde self didnt realize he was planning it for 6 months. And he actually proposed 2 months early then when he wanted to. It was supposed to be over Christmas at a festival of lights park but it ended up being Nov 4th in our apartment livingroom. He had the ring for 3 days and he couldn't wait any longer.

We've been together for 6 years so marriage was an inevitable subject. I just didn't think he was going to do it when he did though. A couple months before he proposed my FH lost his job. Between that, missing a family reunion (my FH really wanted me to meet his grandma), and a long job hunt my fiancé decided enough was enough. He went to our parents and discussed his intentions and bought the ring soon afterwards.

About 2 weeks before the proposal I accidentally found a piece of mail from Jared. Needless to say that sent off some triggers haha. I talked to my now MOH about it and she let my FH know that I was catching on and do it quick!

Cut to October 25, 2018 where we're enjoying a nice dinner out on the water to celebrate my birthday and an upcoming trip to CA to meet his family. When talking about what we were looking forward to (Wizarding World, duh). he was sure that this moment was going to be the most memorable.....

    I knew it was coming.
I had my nails done and made sure to wear something cute. He was ready to wear shorts and T-shirt (he proposed at Disney) I convinced him to change, lol. I made sure to relax and enjoy the day, it helped I knew he was going to do it at dinner.

Nope! I was ready to break up in May 2017 - when my sis hinted to hang on a little longer.

Aug 2017 - He said we were going away for the weekend (we’re from NYC). He rented a loft in a beach town in Long Island, we got our nails done together lol, said we were going for lunch, dressed up and walked to the beach. He had me read a card with my back turned, and it said “turn around”, there he was on one knee, me facing him & the ocean.

We’re beach lovers, I still get teary eyed thinking about it. I said yes, we went to lunch where his bffs (a married couple) were waiting. Later that night we went to dinner and SURPRISE our families were there. I broke down in big baby tears when I saw he had flown my (sickly) mom in from Florida. 😭😭😭 That was the best part of the whole day honestly lol.

On the one hand, I'd been expecting him to propose for approximately 5 years. (Ok, realistically, about 2.)

On the other, once we spoke with the priest in August (what a waste of time that ended up being), I knew it was just a matter of time. I also knew we both wanted to get married in 2019, so he had to hurry it up.

By December, I *knew* he was going to propose, every place we went became this nerve-wracking mystery of if THIS WAS IT, and then he was so SQUIRRELLY by New Year's, I spent the entire trip to the party saying, "...You're proposing, right? You're acting strange. Stop acting inscrutable." And then we GOT to the party, and the first words out of my mouth to our friends? "He's proposing tonight, right? ...C'mon, you know he is." (1 friend is a Slytherin and just misdirected me and I believed her, 1 friend is a Gryffindor with a decent poker face, but not great and looked startled I would say that, and the other friend I ambushed? ...It's mean of me. She's also a Gryffindor and can't lie to save her life. She just blinked at me in astonishment.)

    ...He proposed that night.

I did have a feeling of he was doing it soon. I guessed the wrong day though ... The day where I was half dressed because It was at night at home thinking we weren't doing anything else. So I guess if I had known for sure when then I'd have dressed up nicer. And I think I would have taken more photos than I did

I had no idea he was going to propose and I honestly almost ruined it apparently haha. So we went to dinner at a restaurant with both of our families and when we got there he had the ring in his right pocket. He wanted me to sit on his left but stubborn me wouldn't listen and sat on his right. So he then took the ring out of his pocket and gave it to his dad who did sit on his left. Good thing he did that because he said about 2 minutes after he did that I put my hand right over his pocket where the ring box was! So if he didn't move it I definitely would've felt it. But the rest of the night went smoothly and he proposed in front of both of our families. It was amazing!

We talked a lot about getting married before and especially with her joining the military we knew it would probably be soon. She probably had the ring for at least 6 months before she actually asked.

Her military stuff kept getting delayed and we were both getting frustrated, so I took some time off work and planned a roadtrip to Colorado in February so we could spend some time together before she started training and everything. We were hiking when she pulled out the ring and popped the question, it was perfect! I was definitely hoping/expecting it on the trip but didn't know when, and I was trying not to overthink it too much. (But I did have a nice restaurant picked out for dinner just in case, lol)

    I love reading everyone’s stories!!

My FH and I knew we were going to get married just didn’t know when. We were talking about it for at least a year before he asked me. He actually pulled off one of the sweetest things I’ve ever seen! I’ve been part of a dance studio for 25 years both as a student and a teacher and he knows how much dance means in my life. It was always there whenever I was having a hard day. So apparently a month before the recital he asked my boss if he could propose to me during opening night. She said yes and they got to planning. Her daughter, whom I’m friends with, told me she found this beautiful blue nail polish and I should do that one when I get my next manicure. We set up a date and got our nails done that Friday. The night of recital I thought he was going to happy during this one song “Tell me you love me” that everyone in the studio knew but me! But it wasn’t then. It was time for bows and the teachers go up last. I was last in line waiting to be ushered off stage so the students can take their bows but something “happened with the curtain” when the curtain was able to be opened up again the song “September” by Earth Wind and Fire started to play (which is our song!) and out he came from the wings. All my girls were screaming and everyone was cheering. I loved it!

Here’s pictures from before it happened, during, and after!
