Proper verbiage for program-

LuckyAK, on January 28, 2018 at 12:54 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 12
Hi pals!
i have 6 bridesmaids and one bridesman.
On my wedding program, I'm listing my MOH, and then there is a section to list bridesmaids. Since there's only one bridesman (and he really wants to be clear that he's a bridesman and not a groomsman) should I title it "bridesmaids & bridesman" or "bridesmaids and bridesmen" (I feel like it sounds better but there's only one bridesman). Or is there a non gender related version of bridespeople I could use?
or should I just clump everyone together from both sides ?
thanks!

I would say to put bridesman since there's only one. If you really want to then you could add in parenthesis that he wanted to be called that

Or write a title individually next to every name.
    Ie:
    John Smith, groomsman
    Jeanie Smith, bridesmaid

Just skip the program and then you don't have to worry about it! Smiley smile

I think this is the best solution. Head the entire section “bridal party” then list everyone’s, from both sides, names and titles next. Putting in parenthesis that he wanted to be called a bridesman is weird IMO.

I have a “bridesdude”!!!! Haha that’s what he wanted to be referenced as. I’m making a chalkboard board sign that has “Bridal Party” and 2 columns (one for grooms side, one for brides side) with their names and then their title (like a pp said). “Luke Smith, Bridesdude”

You could also have two columns labeled ‘Brides Attendants’ and ‘Grooms Attendants’

We had a girl RB and the program design we picked initially had headings for "Girls" and "Guys." I asked for it to be changed to "Her Side" and "His Side," since we had a girl on the groom's side. Under each heading, I listed everyone's name with their title. Perhaps you could use headings that aren't gender specific such as "Her Side," "Bride's Side," or "Bride's Attendants" and then list names with their title underneath? Example:

    Bride's Side
    Maid of Honor......Jane Smith
    Bridesmaid............Suzie Brown
    Bridesmaid............Sarah Johnson
    Bridesman.............John Doe

I’ve got a bridesman too! We aren’t doing programs or anything, but we have “Bridal Party” and “Grooms Party” listed on our website, and I generally refer to my party as my “bride tribe”

If you list bride’s attendants and your parties’ names and grooms attendants with his—- I don’t think anyone will be confused unless your bridesman has a gender neutral name like Jessie or something.
