'proof of Marriage' on Honeymoon

Elizabeth, on April 28, 2018 at 2:36 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 18
Hi! First time poster on WeddingWire! My FH and I are getting married in October and we're fine tuning the details of the honeymoon and plan to book shortly. I will shamelessly admit that where ever we stay, I want whatever silly upgrades the hotels or airlines offer to newlyweds (bottle of champagne, flowers, w/e). I know lots of hotels do this and some (all?) will require proof of marriage for these little perks. My question is- what do you bring? Is it enough to bring a photo copy of the marriage license? Or do I need a marriage certificate from townhall (and therefore need to personally go to townhall before we leave for the honeymoon)?
Appreciate any personal experience stories/advice!

You can call the hotels you're thinking of and ask. They won't usually ask for a name until you book your stay

For our honeymoon we went on a cruise, my husband just called and mentioned it when asking about a airport to ship transfer, and they ended up having something in our room when we arrived. Also we had “honeymoon” shirts and wore them when we left for our honeymoon. We had 2 flights, the flight attendants offered us free alcoholic beverages, we didn’t need to mention it. No one really asked for “proof.”

One place I looked at (I can’t remember if it’s the one I’m going to) said one of your invitations was enough. Some listed what they accept as proof

I was curious about this too. Does anyone else remember that episode of Friends when Monica was upset that she didn’t get the honeymoon treatment because another couple was ahead of her and Chandler? I hope that’s not us lol

Who asks for proof of marriage? You won’t have any anyways as your license goes to the officiant after the ceremony...

I've seen the same thing for our honeymoon location. I'm thinking we'll just bring a copy of our signed license (we've gotten it back in the mail already since we delayed the honeymoon until after I'm done teaching this semester).

I love 'Friends' lol! I pulled the 'you know I don't have a sense of humor when it comes to the wedding!' Today. FH laughed at me and shook his head.. 😂

We are doing Sandals too and you can sign up online for the honeymoon stuff if you upload a picture of your invitation.

We're doing Hawaii. I'll update the post once i find out from the hotels what they need. Invitations would be super easy. My officiant is my uncle so i could certainly get a photo copy or something if the license, but I'd have to postpone a few days if i needed an official certificate (which seems excessive if that's what they need, but some airlines i think want it)

    Wow...
My H is a Lifetime Platinum/ Diamond member at most hotels from work related world travel. So we usually don’t have to supply proof or ask for our perks...
