Hi everyone,
I tried this dress on yesterday at the Pronovias store in Madrid (where I live) and completely fell in love. It's the Hyperion gown from the 2020 line. The sample fit me perfectly, and the salon is offering a 20% discount if I buy the sample. I would also be able to recuperate VAT if my parents brought the dress back through customs to the US for me (where the wedding will be) when they visit next year, whenever that may be with the current state of the world. So this almost brand-new sample dress, originally $2,500, would come out to about $1,700, alterations included. I know my wedding is still quite a ways away, but the unique circumstances of being able to take advantage of my parents visiting me (the only time they'll be in Spain before I go to Chicago for the wedding) and getting the VAT back means that looking for a dress now is kind of good timing for me. I also don't fluctuate size in my torso much at all and the waist of this dress fits perfectly, so I'm not concerned about doing alterations too early.
Anyway! My main question is, what do you guys think of it? I love it, as do my mom and sister, but I'd also be interested in third-party opinions. I went to the salon alone and the saleswoman was doing a great job of selling me on the dress, of course, and I'm seriously considering buying it. Does the discount and VAT deduction seem like a good deal in relation to the original price? It was my first time trying wedding dresses on so I'm not sure if it's normal to find "the dress" on the first trip. I do have my heart set on a Pronovias gown though, to bring a little bit of Spain to our Chicago wedding.
Any advice/insight/opinions are much appreciated!
