Processsion and Uneven Bridal Party

IslandBride, on July 22, 2016 at 4:04 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

Does any one have any suggestions how to organise the bridal procession when there is an uneven bridal party? In all the weddings I have attended, the numbers have been equal and a bridesmaid is escorted by a groomsman down the aisle for the procession. Any suggestion on how to approach this when the numbers are uneven? There will be 4 bridesmaids and 3 groomsmen. I thought of two ladies being escorted by one groomsman but the aisle is not wide enough.

We had two BMs and one GM, one BM walked alone.

Ours is uneven. If the aisle isn't wide enough, just have one BM walk alone, or you could have them all walk alone.

I was in a wedding where there were 3 bridesmaids and 8 groomsmen, so we just all went individually.

I think if the aisle isn't wide enough, you could just have everyone walk alone, maybe alternating bridesmaids and groomsmen.

Would it be weird if the men all stood at the altar and the women walk down alone?

IslandBride - No not weird at all, that's one of many ways a processional can work. For ours, the groomsmen will be up at the front already (they'll enter from the side of the church) next to FH, and the girls will process by themselves. On the way out, one of the girls will just join up with 2 guys (I have 6 girls and 7 guys).

I've actually never seen BM and GM walk together in the processional. I've always seen the GM enter down the aisle with the groom and then the BM process down before the bride. For the recessional, you could have 1 GM walk with 2 BM or vice-versa.

Ours will be uneven also. You can either have 2 BM and 1 GM or have one BM go alone

We're having the BMs walk alone and the GM already at the altar. On the way out one of the GM will walk with my mom.

We are having the 5 groomsmen walk down first to "Final Countdown" and they will each have a handshake kind of thing with FH (think Rocky) , then the music will switch to a more traditional girly song for the 6 bridesmaids, flower girls, and me. We want to have fun with our ceremony so it reflects us.
