Processionals!

Courtney, on January 14, 2020 at 2:24 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 14
I was wondering if any of you beautiful people had ideas for a non traditional processional? My fiancé want to walk down the aisle and has a song picked out that he wants to use, I think it is a great idea but I was wondering how best to do this. I’ve been scouring the internet for what seems like forever but I rarely go to weddings so I was just wondering if anyone could help me out on this one. Thank you!

Does he want to walk by himself? I have seen the groom walk his mom down the aisle, but the groom's dad was no longer alive so that's why he walked his mom. Here is what I would do:

    Parents
    Groom

Bridal Party with groomsmen escorting the bridesmaids

    Bride

    Or

    Parents

    Groom

All of the groomsmen walk in a group together

    Bridesmaids individually

    Bride

Thats a great idea! I was kind of wondering who was going to walk his mom, his dad is still alive but they have been divorced for a long time and his dad although they have a better relationship now was not present for a very long time. Thank you!

You're welcome! I would make sure you don't have too many different songs for your processional though.

I agree❤️ I can’t wait to watch him walk down the aisle! That is a good idea, I do have a second question which might seem dumb but I’m just concerned with how all the different song changes will go, I feel like it is a bit crazy to play so many different songs in such a short time frame and my nephews will be taking care of music not a professional Dj. I found some stuff online about that but should there be some sort of transition or just like abruptly changing the song? Sorry if that’s a dumb question

    Our processional order was:
    Grandparents of the bride

    Grandparents of the groom
    Groomsmen
    Best man
Groom with his dad and brother
    Bridesmaids
    MOH
    Bride with mom and brother

We had the same song play for everyone except it changed for me.

We had one song for the parents and bridal party and then my entrance song. Our DJ provided the ceremony music so he recommended having only two songs.

I like that order, it seems more fitting to us. I am kinda thinking about doing the song he wants for his parents, him, and his groomsmen, and then doing another for myself, my parents, and my bridesmaids.

Our wedding is only about 26 people total and we already did a courthouse paper signing last year so our processional is kind of odd as well.

The Best man is seating the grooms mom since he is like a son to her and my husbands parents do not get along at all. Then the best man is coming back and he is walking with the groom and the officiant who is also a friend of ours. Then the wedding party one at a time. Finally both my parents are walking me.
It’s all about how you wanna do it!

So our band doubled as DJ. We made a playlist on Spotify and the DJ of the band played the songs. The DJ faded the songs out when each group was done walking. For processional, the songs all worked together because they had similar enough of a vibe, sound and tempo.

Parents (and officiant, I think): Canon in D
Groom (and groomsmen): Intro (by The XX, covered by Midnight String Quartet)
Bridesmaids: Firework (by Katy Perry, covered by Midnite String Quartet)
Bride: Can’t Help Falling in Love (Elvis, covered by Midnite String Quartet)

My husband walked down the aisle as well with our officiant. We had one song for our wedding party and me. So two songs total. I mixed up a playlist beforehand and timed/ spliced it so that all my sister had to do was press play and not worry about it. You can get mixer apps for like $3 on iTunes.

    Moms sat themselves

Husband and officiant together (Ave Verum Corpus arranged for strings- Mozart)

    Best man/ matron of honor

    JBM and JGM

Dad and Me (November Rain by GNR covered by Amadeus Electric Quartet)
