I have been thinking for quite some time about what song I want to walk down the aisle to. With our postponement, I've had extra time to think about details that I wasn't super settled on before, and as a result, I've un-decided about my aisle song, and am still on the hunt.

Maybe you chose to go with a song that was relevant to your relationship, irrespective of how appropriate it was for the occasion - for example, one of my friends walked down the aisle to an instrumental version of 'we found love in a hopeless place' when they met at work, and had invited coworkers to the wedding, LOL.

My ideal song would be something with lyrics that are cute (or relevant to us), that people recognise, but maybe not your first thought for a wedding song. Like... an instrumental version of REO speedwagon's keep on loving you (I haven't found one on spotify though!)

I also really liked the idea of having 'la vie en rose' because my name is Rosie and I LOVE pink, but the thing is... I don't think most people will pick up on the joke - even if they recognise the song they probably won't know the name, and if they DO know the name, they won't know the translated meaning. Which makes me think that's not a great idea.

So! How did you pick your song? Did you care if it was appropriate? Did you find a softer version somewhere or go with the original? Did it have lyrics or was it instrumental?

I'm aware, too, that it's a silly thing to think so hard about - I've heard so many stories where whatever you chose to walk down the aisle to didn't even end up being played for whatever reason, but still. Here we are.

Oh very classic. I've never really thought of Cannon in D as overly Christmassy!

And I love having something personal in there!

Did you look for something that was... wedding appropriate as well as lyrics you liked?

Yes and no. The regular processional music was very wedding appropriate. I've seen many other couples use it for their weddings. The bridal one just meant something to me and was about love not a traditional wedding song or even a song I've seen used in other weddings. They lyrics were wedding appropriate.

The wedding party walked down to "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran ft. Beyonce. And then I walked down to "Kiss Me" by Ed Sheeran. "A Thousand Years" by Christina Perri is always a good one too. My cousin walked down to "Can't Help Falling In Love With You".

Oh, those ones are sweet options. It's hard, isn't it - I feel like my fiance isn't much of an Ed Sheeran person, so it wouldn't really 'fit' us even though it's a lovely choice.

Trans Siberian Orchestra turned it into a Christmas Song and I love it! I actually heard it listening to a Christmas iheartradio station recently and was like "hmmm this is very on brand for me to walk down the aisle to"

We chose “I Get to Love You” by Ruelle. It’s soft and beautiful. I cried the first time I heard it and when I showed it to my husband, he got teary-eyed as well. That was the clincher 😊

Aww, that's super sweet! Were you/are you worried that you'll get TOO teary eyed? I know that is another concern for me, haha!

I was worried about that, but when the time came, it felt so surreal. It wasn’t until after the ceremony and pictures when I really thought to myself, “Hey, we are married!” The first dance (Perfect-Ed Sheeran) was the first song we ever slow-danced to. It was just in my living room and the song came on when I shuffled my music. I was more emotional during the first dance at the wedding than I was when I walked down the aisle.

Awww, quite a lot of people I know have said that! So sweet. I wonder how I'll be! Fingers crossed not a sobbing soggy heap on the floor, haha!

I hope to be walking to Nothing Else Matters (Metallica) covered by the cello artist LUKA. It’s such a gorgeous cover.

If I can’t find it on Spotify, I’ll use Apocalyptica’s version. We both are big fans of heavy metal and our taste is music is something that brought us together.
