Processional Time vs Ceremony Time

Jenny, on September 15, 2017 at 3:08 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

So our ceremony start time is 2pm. Does that mean that the bridesmaids and bride are down the aisle by 2pm for the ceremony to start or should the processional start at 2pm? What is everyone else doing?

We're also having a 2:00 wedding! Meaning, the piano will start and my granny (1st in the procession) will start walking down the aisle at 2:00. If you want to start the ceremony AT 2:00 and already be done with the procession, make sure your guests know to arrive early!

We did that our processional started at our start time. We knew a decent number of people would be late (not because we suck but because they are chronically late) but started any way.

My venue is in a really busy part of town and there's a lot of traffic in that area so I speculated some people would show up late. My ceremony started probably 5-10 min late. Not because of me but people were just standing around chit chatting. At the ceremony start time they were told to find their seats. I guess that could have been handled better. Oh well.

The professional is the start of the ceremony. You don't want everyone to walk down as people are still showing up.

I'd say processional is at whatever start time you've put on your invite. Our processional was short, so it wasn't like there was a big gap between starting the processional and starting the ceremony.
