Processional songs... on cello?

Ashley S., on July 25, 2017 at 10:43 AM Posted in Planning 0 5

Does anybody have recommendations for processional songs to be played on a cello? We are thinking about hiring someone to play for us, but I can't think of any other songs to play except for the common Canon in D and ones like those. Just looking for something a little different. Any recs would be greatly appreciated!

    Check out piano guys - they have a cellist for most of their pieces, and it's beautiful. I think a good cellist can play any song you want. Also, can you ask the person you are thinking of hiring what songs he/she recommends?

    J.S Bach's Prelude, from Unaccompanied Cello Suit No. 1 in G Major, BWV 1007. https://youtu.be/PCicM6i59_I

    This is my favorite piece and wish we had the budget for a cellist to play this. I'm going to ask our church's music director if he can do it.

    We had a quartet of cello, viola, and 2 violins so I'm not sure if this is a helpful answer, but our processional songs were Canon in D, Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring, and Can't Help Falling in Love. It sounded beautiful, nothing beats live music!

    I used youtube a lot to find what songs I like best. You might try searching "cello processional" or something similar.

    If you want non traditional do a "modern" song. My best friend had 2 cellist (sp?) play chasing cars by snow patrol as her processional and it was awesome!

    I am walking to "can't help falling in love" by Elvis with a cello and violin duo Smiley smile

    @Tarheel I will check them out!

    @Amberella Thanks! will check it out

    @Kris we may do one cello and one violin so that may work!

    @Jennifer that sounds very original!
