Processional song length?

Rachel, on March 5, 2016 at 7:20 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

Hi!

I'm trying to create the ceremony song list... And I'm not getting very far. I have 4 bridesmaids\groomsmen that are all walking, then the flower girls side by side, then my dad and me. We are having it inside of a church where the isle isn't very long. How long do you think it would take for the 4 parties, two flower girls and my father and I to get to the front?

I have a song that I really love that is about 2 minutes long that I am crazy about. (Link here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNDzaHF2CBY ) I could maybe use that for the whole processional I'm thinking...?

Thoughts? My wedding is in 3 weeks from today! Smiley laugh

I would think that you could use the whole song because you will be walking slower then normal I also have 4 bridesmaids/ groomsmen but a few more people and my song is about 3 min. I hope this helps!

Is there any way you can go to the church, play the song, and walk it through??

Honestly, I would try to go in and time it (with music because that will affect how fast people walk). If you can't do it there find out how long the aisle is and have people walk that same distance somewhere else. The song length doesn't need to be exact but it's good to be close and you certainly don't want it too short! People tend to walk faster under pressure.

Most people walk hella fast, I don't know the normal processional is but you can probably halve what you think given people haul ass when they have to walk alone dome that aisle.

I would try to do a run through with the music and everyone walking. At least you will have an idea if it's the right length of time.

I love The statues of Pemberly from Pride & Prejudice but it was not going to work with just me so I decided to have just the one song. There was a certain place in the music that did a bit of a pause and knew it would be the perfect spot for my entrance. The rehearsal was beneficial for us to set the pace to make that happen. The first time people walked to it, they went so fast the song had hardly started! LOL!

The music can be faded out when you get to the front -- whether it is live or canned.
