Processional Music - question??

MrsDean, on March 6, 2015 at 3:45 PM Posted in Planning 0 18

Are you playing one song for the whole processional or are you changing to a special song when you walk down the aisle?

I want a special song to indicate the bride is walking down the aisle, but do you let the entire song play? I'll be at the end of the aisle before the song ends, but it's such a beautiful song, I don't want to cut it short. My song is Spend My Life With You by Eric Benet & Tamia. L-O-V-E that song!!

We are doing separate songs but probably cutting it short once I walk down the aisle. I feel like it would be awkward standing up there waiting for a song to end

Maybe you can play a portion of the song that you really like that fits the length of time it will take you to walk down and the DJ should fade it so it doesnt sound just cut off... I really love that song too, considered using it for our first dance.

I'm trusting my DJ to fade in/out as needed. He does a ton of weddings, this has to be a common issue right?

He actually thinks my 1:32 song is too short! But its instrumental and sounds good looped, so we're doing that.

I have 3 different songs being played for the processional, all are classical Spanish guitar music. The Parents and groomsmen get 1 song, it will change for bridesmaids and the change again for me. Each song will be cut once the last person has gotten into place.

I agree with you guys. It's just too awkward to let the song continue to play after I reach the alter. We'll just have to play it again at the reception. I'm gonna walk REAL slow! :-D

I'm doing two pieces--one for family/wedding party and one for my entrance. I'm having a string quartet, and I'm going to have them play to a natural stopping point in the music after people finish walking--so not the whole piece, but not stopping abruptly, either.

I am doing two different songs..BP is walking into Ribbon In The Sky by Stevie Wonder and the music will change to The One He Kept For Me by Maurette Brown-Clark when I get to the end of the aisle the DJ will fade it out.

Side note: Spend My Life will be our first dance song that is such a beautiful song Smiley smile

Processional will be different from mine. Processional is "Don't Change" by Musiq Soulchild and the song I'm walking down to will be to "By Your Side" by Sade. I explained in another post, the processional song is his song dedicated to me and the song I'm talking to is my song dedicated to him.

ETA: We're not playing the full song - DJ will do his magic since he's amazing at blending/fading!

I was just thinking this same exact question today.. i love the song i picked for my entrance, and I dont want to cut it off.. i'm also not a spotlight person so i kinda in a way feel like i dont HAVE to have my own song, even though yes i am the bride. I think I made my choice today though to do two (and i might change my mind and only do the one. lol). FH is a YouTube aholic - we chose song covers sung by our favorite YouTube sensations...

Christina Grimmie - I wont Give Up (Jason Mraz cover) - bridal party entrance

Jenny Lane - Thinking Out Loud (Ed Sheeran cover) - bride entrance

We will not have any preceremony music and all the music during the ceremony will be played from my iPod through the church's sound system (our usher will be manning it).

The seating of the grandparents and parents will be an instrumental of "For the Beauty of the Earth" by Chris Rice. It will play for about 30-45 seconds so people get the hint that shit's getting starting and get in their seats and quiet down before the parents and grandparents walk down the aisle and the mom's light each of our candles at the altar. The song will play through it's completion.

The processional will be "Pachelbel meets U2" by Jon Schmidt of the Piano Guys. It's perfect, because the moment I walk down the aisle is right after the music really builds and hits the intense spot in the song. The song ends up going another 2 minutes, but the usher will just fade the music out once I've reached the alter.

Thank you guys for the feedback. I've decided to do 2 songs - 1 for the processional and 1 for me. Each one will fade once we're in place.

I am doing the same song for the entire processional but a good dj will be able to fade the song out properly so it doesn't just cut the music when you get to the end.

@Jesse's Girl isn't he amazing? Love their music and Jon is a genius on the piano.

We haven't finalized any of our music yet. I'm tossed between my song being A Thousand Years by The Piano Guys or At Last by Etta James

We have a pretty large bridal party so I am actually playing one song for parents and then switching to a different song for the bridesmaids, and then I will have my own song!

Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring (Bach) for parents

Pachelbel Canon in D for bridesmaids

Wagner's Bridal Chorus for the bride

We have a string trio for the ceremony, so we don't have to worry about fading the songs in and out.
