Processional blues! sorta

m&j18, on September 13, 2017 at 12:10 AM Posted in Planning 0 7

I know I'm still early but I'm struggling with song ideas for my entrance. Do most of you feel this is a song "to your future spouse" (as if you were singing it) or more of a reflection of you both as a couple? Does your FH/W know which song you've picked ahead of time? Is it meaningful to you both? I really love Damien Rice's "Colour me in" it is a little haunting, but I think it's beautiful and describes my early search for love. Also I am an Art Teacher and I love the reference to him "colouring" me in. I plan to cut the first verse out as I think it would be inappropriate to walk with my dad as it says "...to undress it" Am I being strange here? I really love the lyrics to Ruelle's "I get to love you" but I honestly don't love her voice- I would love a recommendation for a great cover!

I second JNav. Vitamin string quartet is great. You can YouTube their songs; they cover a ton of modern songs: pop/rock/hip hop/etc.

FH and I went to this dive karaoke bar (Alice's Lounge in Chicago) on one of our first dates two years ago and have been regulars ever since. We did a duet of "Helena" by My Chemical Romance that night, and it's one of our regular karaoke songs now. VSQ does a great cover so I'm going to surprise him and walk down the aisle while it plays. I can't wait to see him cry!!

I felt the exact same way as it was a song to my FH. I surprised him by calling the DJ and switching it. My husband thought he knew but I chose a song that was very meaningful to us. He introduced me to the song and the artist. I loved it and he was so excited about it. We are both huge music snobs. It was so special to see his smile and he totally teared up which was sweet.

I picked my processional and then my parents shot it down because it wasn't a love song. I wasn't going to listen to them, but they wouldn't let it go. So I ended up picking a song that my dad used to play a lot when I was younger (wedding day by the beegees), so to me it's about bringing that song into another stage of my life and incorporating that memory with my new memories with FH.

We're doing Can't Help Falling in Love by Haley Reinhart (I adore her voice) and Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers.

@Jnav- They are great and I will use some for seating guests and dinner time, but I really was lyrics that are sung clearly while I walk down, not instrumental.

@L&J- I love your date- so fun! I see they do a cover of The Cure "Friday, I'm in love" that would be so awesome and unexpected

@MrsB- awww he's not into music as much as I am, which is why I want something with clear meaningful lyrics. I'd love t surprise him!

@Madison- you still have time- don't give up yet! Perhaps have a heart to heart with your folks! Or use it elsewhere- first dance?

    Thanks for the tips!
