Processional and Recessional Music

Amanda, on August 1, 2017 at 10:02 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 33

We are now officially 2 months away from the big day and we are starting to contemplate some of the smaller details. I am trying to come up with some ideas for our processional and recessional, what is everyone else doing?

I brought up Vitamin String Quartet "Don't Stop Believing" for our recessional but I don't think FH is sold on it. Would love to hear what direction others are going with theirs!

I know this is terrible but I have no clue nor do I have any plans on figuring it out. My DJ is also doing my ceremony and I trust him fully with what he chooses. FH had been researching music so he might have something picked out..... we shall see

I'm walking down the aisle to an instrumental version of Peter Gabriel's "The Book of Love" and our recessional is the celebration song from Star Wars (at the end of Episode 4 in the throne room, medal ceremony)

BP Processional: Bach for 8 cellos (I'm working on a recording of me doing all of the parts)

Bridal Processional: La Vie en Rose (Edith Piaf or possibly on accordion- we're playing french/italian cafe music before the wedding)

Recessional: Happy by Pharrell (because at that point the party is starting!)

I picked mine out a few days ago finally. For processional it will be "nothing can change this love" by sam Cooke. For me to walk to, it will be "can't help falling in love" by Elvis. And the recessional is "be my baby" by the ronettes. All older songs which is kind of our style! I'm excited!

We had a large bridal party so we did:

Seating of Groom’s Family: Jesu, Joy Of Man’s Desiring by Bach

Processional: Canon in D by Pachelbel

Bridal processional: Bridal Chorus by Wagner

For the recessional we did Wedding March by Mendelssohn

We had a very traditional wedding, if you can't tell by the music choices haha.

"Processional" -- “I Choose You” by Sara Bareilles (sung by a bridesman)

"Recessional" – The Muppets - Life's a Happy Song (instrumental)

(They're in quotes because we're kind of just flowing onto stage; there's no real aisle.)
