Problem - Alterations Timing

Definitely call and ask if it can be done sooner! Also call around and ask a few other places, just to see if anyone else has availability to get it done at least a week before your wedding. I certainly wouldn't recommend picking up the dress on the day of your wedding - if anything went wrong with alterations, you'd want to find that out before your wedding day so that they have a chance to fix it.

You should look into an independent seamstress. They may have more time to intentionally work on your gown and turn it around faster.

I’m dealing with an independent seamstress and she says it will take 4-5 weeks. Call around. And you may have to make your alterations simple.

I'd say call around to see if anyone can get it done the week prior. Having that peace of mind will absolutely be worth it. You'll probably have to pay a chain/ a bigger place for rush services (or even an independent seamstress if they're super booked up), but I'd say it would be money well spent.
