We got married Nov 5. Our wedding photog was the same one who did our e-pics. The cost/contract includes full rights to all photos. Per the contract "The final images are processed in about 3 weeks form the wedding date". We didn't have access to the complete photos until December 18 which is 6 weeks and 1 day after the event.

The delay of getting the entire collection of photos meant that I couldn't purchase photobooks as Christmas gifts for both sets of parents and my grandmother. I didn't want to start to do design/layout until I had all photos to determine how many pages/photos I needed space for.

I would definitely mention in your review that you did not receive your photos in the time specified in the contract so that other brides know to expect it to take longer.

    Hi Sara!

Can I make a suggestion? Why not talk to the photographer before leaving a strong review, and see if they're willing to do something nice to make up for it.

Let them know you were disappointed, not necessarily that it took 6 weeks, but because it kept being promised along the way.

It's possible that getting the feedback would both be what they need to change, AND provide an opportunity for them to really do something to make it up to you. Maybe there's something they can do for you like discount on an album, or additional photoshop work on some special photos, prints if they do prints.

The reasons I mention it is that Six Weeks is actually pretty good for an entire wedding! And it sounds like maybe they could use some communication that it wasn't the amount of time, but the way they approached it that was frustrating.

If it turns out that they just seem completely unapologetic, then it really could be the time to leave a strong review, but wouldn't it help to see how they react to a little communication?

(and by comparison, I tell everyone it can take about 10 weeks. I've recently started doing a preview gallery within a few days of the wedding, and some of my weddings are getting out much sooner! ( just had one go out within 2 weeks! )

Thank you all for your feedback - I will share my frustration with the photographer about the timeline being different in the contract and also the different timeline processes along the way so that in the future she amends her contract to give brides a more accurate sense of the turn-around time.

Perhaps her contract was drawn up when she first started in the biz and had so few bookings that 3 weeks was possible. Maybe she needs to update her contract to reflect current turn-around time. You could nicely suggest it to her.

Give a framed print to parents & g'ma now and tell them that they'll get the books soon.

I understand that photographer said "about" three weeks but personally to me six weeks is NOT "about" three weeks. That is twice as long. I wouldn't bother pursuing anything other than a review stating that photos took longer than expected to receive. I would feel very frustrated at them not being honest/upfront during communication about when they would be done. They should have provided a more realistic timeline to start with and been more honest about where they were at in the process.
