pro Makeup questions!!

Hi everyone! I'm sure there's SOMEONE out there who is in my boat or has been in my boat here. (I'm hoping lol)

I used to be a professional makeup artist. Bridal, magazines, I've been published, all the good stuff. I also am a part time Disney princess, and model. I very much know how to do my makeup, and do it well.
I'm trying to decide if I should do my makeup myself or if I should hire someone else for the job. I've never been married so I have no idea if I'm going to have a freak out moment or something strange that comes along with a wedding day that is something you can't predict happening. I've seen bridezillas and completely normal girls go haywire on their big day so I guess I just am affraid of me freaking out and not liking my makeup all of a sudden or something. Lol
Help! Other pro makeup artists I need your advice or what you all did.
Thanks in advance

I am not a pro artist but something to consider is one less thing to worry about on your wedding day. I mean plenty of brides do their own but if you get a make up and hair trial you can determine then if you like what someone else does for you. I would just say if you do your own make up make sure you delegate everything else to your bridal party so it does not become to stressful to you.

Another pro MUA here! But I hired a professional H/MUA for my wedding. I only very briefly thought about doing my own makeup. Then I decided against it because I want to sit back, enjoy and be catered to on my wedding day. I think the difficult part comes from knowing how you like your makeup done and knowing that another person is not going to execute it that exact same way. But for me, I’m fine with it because I’m only doing a basic soft bridal look. Plus, if there’s anything that’s so totally terrible, I know I can fix it. 😉

My step sister (she’s not a pro MUA but she is trying to make a career or side hustle out of it) did her own makeup for her wedding. She said it actually helped to calm her down because makeup is her stress relief outlet.

I think it depends on if you view doing your makeup as work or as calming. If it's calming, then it could help calm any "freak out" moment you have and could help. If it's work, then you should hire someone to do it and be pampered for the day!

I used to be in makeup as well, and I’m doing my own. And my own trials so I know EXACTLY what I want, and can fine tune everything. I’m too much of a control freak to trust a stranger on my biggest day. I vote do your own.

Personally, I think if you are super confident in you doing your own makeup how you like and you are good at it, you are probably the BEST person who could do your makeup. No one else is going to have as much experience working on your face or knowing how products work on your face. Did you know Zendaya does her own makeup for a lot of events because she just feels she does it better than pros?

If I felt like I could do my makeup to a level where I was super satisfied I would absolutely do it myself. I don't even wear makeup most days but I did my own for my elopement and was pretty happy with how it came out. I plan on having my makeup professionally done for our wedding next year, however if I really don't like the trial I will just do it myself.

Have you considered doing a trial just to see how you like another person doing your makeup for you? Or maybe a friend from work could fill that role.
