60 days married!! Time has flown by!
We were married on Sunday, October 20, 2019 in San Diego, CA. This date was selected as it was close to our 9 year anniversary on Oct. 23. We were engaged December 23, 2018 so about ten months of planning.
From the get go we didn’t want a wedding so large we couldn’t enjoy our guests. About 90% of our guests were from out of state and it was so special to have everyone together. We originally planned a small brunch reception for 35-40 guests and through the planning we got sucked into the whole wedding thing 😅 we ended up with a full blown wedding for 60 guests. We ended up getting a dj, photo booth, videographer and a larger venue with a dance floor which all were not in the original plan.
Our brunch was a hit, especially the omelette station! The photo booth was great and the time of day didn’t prevent people from dancing. The whole planning process was so much fun! My husband was very involved and we did all the planning together and loved checking new venues, taking dance lessons and planning together.
Where we saved:
- - Wedding on a Sunday - discount with several vendors, easily saved us thousands. Also less competition for vendors being booked.
- - Brunch wedding - saved about $1,500 on food but we did this because we love brunch!
- - Did my own planning which was fun! Although it probably took 500 hours... Venue came with a day of planner which helped!
- -Lots of DIY decor
- - No special transportation - no one sees it anyway
- - No cake - we’re not cake fans
- - No grand exit - this saved from not needing the videographer and photographer to stay the entire event
- - Videographer and photographer
- - DJ/MC
- - Venue - but it included a bridal suite house which helped
- - My dress! But my mom bought and insisted on the one I got which I also loved
- MINOR regrets:
- - With the rush I put my dress on in about 30 seconds. I wish I took a few minutes to do it right. I taped the front of my dress too low and couldn’t move it after that... so the ”girls” were on display! Not something I’m used to and I was conscious about it the rest of the day
- - I forgot to put on my spanks so I had a little food baby showing
- - I forgot the veil at the bridal suite so my sister had to drive back and get it
- - not including more family in the formal pictures. We had a small group and didn’t want to pull everyone from cocktail hour so we cut some family photos. To this day I really regret this. I know people say they don’t regret anything but I want to be honest... if I could go back in time and change this I would
- A bit of a bummer:
- Having to cut our formal photos. One of the reason we picked this venue was for all the gorgeous scenery for photos but since we were behind schedule we picked more time at our wedding over outside taking photos. Still the right choice but a bit of a bummer

Pics including some from our honeymoon. I wish I could post them all! Sorry for any weird formatting... WW is being difficult.
