Private Ceremony

Danielle, on February 14, 2020 at 11:25 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4

I'm doing a private ceremony and I swear it has been one of the biggest causes of stress and confusion because it's "weird". My question right now is how do I note it on my website? I'm using Zola just because I like their layout best, and on the schedule page I have it titled reception, but I don't know if that's enough. I'm thinking of putting something on the FAQ page, but how in the world do I word it? Or are there any other suggestions?

I just wouldn't acknowledge the ceremony on your website or invites. I'd say "Reception Time" then put whatever time it starts. In FAQs, you could put "When is the ceremony?" then explain what you're doing.

Zola has a function where you can decide which guests see which events.

That way, only guests who are invited to ceremony + reception will see both events for rsvp. Guests for reception only will see just reception on the rsvp page. There’s nothing to explain. When I receive an invitation to someone’s wedding dinner/reception, that’s the only thing I RSVP to. I have received formal, written by hand by professional calligrapher paper invitation before that was for reception only. It works for paper or online rsvp.

It is not werid but it is a new trend. I would check etsy for invitations for this type of wedding to help with wording.

We are having a private ceremony as well with only 30 guests. On our wedding website I only have information about the reception. I plan on putting a separate "insert" regarding the ceremony into the wedding invitation envelopes for only the 30 people invited to the ceremony. On our wedding website, I also have a line that says "following a private ceremony, please join us for a reception at..." Hope that helps!
