Private ceremony

Krysta, on April 7, 2017 at 2:52 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6

My fiancé and I are having a private wedding ceremony with just us, our parents and each others siblings. My question how do you announce the marriage to the rest of our family? We aren't having a reception. Do we just send an announcement after we are married or do you do it before and say your getting married in a private ceremony? Suggestions please.

I would send an announcement with a picture of you two at the ceremony saying "just married".

A post-wedding announcement is fine. Vistaprint had quite a few wedding announcements when I was last on there

Send the announcement after. Otherwise it comes off as rubbing it in their faces that they are not invited.

FH and I are having a private ceremony with just our immediate family, but we are having a reception. Because you're not, I would definitely send the announcement after.

You need to treat your ceremony guests to dinner and drinks to thank them for attending your ceremony.

I would send a wedding announcement after you are married.

OP never said she wasn't treating the guests to dinner her question was how to announce the marriage to others. I agree with @Fitz. If you feel it's necessary to make an announcement, just send a card with your photo.
