Printing Wedding Invitations

Megan, on February 14, 2020 at 10:11 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 6 23

Hi everyone!

So I decided to go the route of getting a template on Etsy and then printing my own invitations.

For people who have done this before where did you print your invites? Trying to look for something inexpensive but still has good quality.

Thank you!

I used printrunner.com. Vistaprint and staples and some of those other companies wouldn’t let me print the sizes I needed.

    I bought invites from Costco. 50 of invite, 50 rsvp, 50 detail cards= $100.

Staples is great place to get them printed. Try and go in and purchase something small to print because your receipt should print out with a 20% off coupon. Then you can go back and do the big print job and save!

I printed ours myself with my Canon printer (with off brand ink) on felt cardstock that I bought from lci paper. The picture isn't great but the colors and elements I used came out looking crisp and clear. Printing Wedding Invitations 1

I did the same thing I got mine done a pip printing. I believe they are nationwide. They printed two of everything on one paper so each invite cost me 50 cents! They are professional printers so the quality came out great!

We are using Zazzle for our invites and they have a "create your own" option that might work with Etsy templates. We ordered a few test items from them and are happy with the quality.

If you have a decent printer and nice cardstock, printing at home is just fine.

My FW wanted to do it all DIY - letter press, velum, ribbon, etc etc. Fun fact - DIY letterpress is harder than it looks! But, if you leave the ink out of the equation, you can still emboss with much of the same equipment and it's not too bad. Everything was printed on our HP Envy 4520 and then we embossed the invitations, details cards, etc. with some borders and lines, etc and they look amazing.

So if your home printer is fine and the paper is high quality, whatever you pick will look great.

I found a local print shop that did mine for .40 cents a print. They came out beautiful and I was able to use my own paper that I made which made it even more special. Staples wouldn't let me use my own paper and insisted I use their stock card stock.

Www.canva.com is what I used to print our holiday cards this year. I'm going to be using them for our wedding programs as well. They do a fantastic job and are SUPER affordable.

Try to find a local printer. That way you can do proofs and see the test version before printing everything. We did a run of 150 invites in nyc and paid less than $80

I ordered my invite from Etsy and customized it then emailed to a local print shop (I'm trying to buy/ use local as much as possible). I'm having a micro wedding so I only got 26 invites and envelopes but just picked them up yesterday and it cost me about $12! They were in black and white, so that saved on cost, too. It's totally possible!

I ended up just going to Staples and used their basic cardstock and it ended up being pretty cheap and they look amazing. This picture doesnt really do them justice but I'm very happy how they turned out. I just bought the envelopes and everything from etsy.

I printed my own for my 1st wedding in 2007. I bought card stock at Staples and a new color cartridge for my printer, then just used microsoft word for the layout and design. I used a calligraphy style writing for the headers, a smaller, simple font for the middle (with crisp lines so it was easy to read) and used the connected 3D hearts image I downloaded from somewhere online. I couldn't find a pic of the invitations, but the pic below has my programs, which I know are hard to see, but they were printed as 2 sided documents on regular paper and the connected hearts are visible on the front.

Like PP have said, doing it yourself can be very fun and just as beautiful as purchasing elsewhere!
