Printing Registry Information on Announcements

Rebecca, on October 26, 2024 at 3:36 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 2
My FMIL wants us to print our wedding registry information on wedding announcements. She wants these sent to people we did not invite. I always thought this was bad etiquette. I searched online and everyone says it is bad etiquette. I thought to be sure I would ask on here. Thanks!

Yes, very bad etiquette. You don't list registry on any invitation because it looks greedy. Rather, registry info is spread by word of mouth or via your wedding website (if you have one).

It's best not to send any type of wedding announcement to non-invited guests until after the wedding, perhaps at end of year holidays. Otherwise, one may mistake this as a wedding invite and show up on wedding day and find they have no seat. How ghastly. What your MIL is asking is an obvious gift grab and is quite insulting. Disregard her advice and say that's all against etiquette.

You are absolutely correct. Nobody should receive a registry (or be invited to any pre-wedding even) who is not invited to the wedding.
