Printing on Envelopes

Masada, on April 19, 2017 at 9:14 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 24

Hi everyone, sorry if this is a frequent topic... has anyone used WPD to address their envelopes? I contacted Vista print this evening and they don't offer this service yet. Just wondering if anyone has done it via WPD and has been happy with the result. Thanks!

I did it with the STDs only. It was a bit of a pain because I had to individually adjust fonts and sizes. Because of that, when it was time to do my invites, I did it myself on my printer.

Im not entirely sure what WPD is. However I printed much of my paper for the wedding from vista print. I had a few extra envelopes I ran it through my printer with one of our favorite scripts and printed an address on it using the envelope set up with our custom dimensions. I was extremely happy with the results as my handwriting is so poor. My FH's handwriting is relatively nice however he writes extremely tiny. When he tries to make it bigger its no better than mine.

GymRat, did you import a spreadsheet with all of the guests addresses? As I'm typing this I realize my question wasn't very clear. The purpose is to print with our guests addresses rather than hand write them as my hand writing isn't great and my FH is worse Smiley tongue

I used WPD. I had them print our return addresses on all the envelopes, then bought clear address labels for all of the guests addresses. You can buy avery brand labels at staples and they have templates. I had to type them myself which took about 2 hours but only cost me about $15

Used WPD and it worked like a charm. The key is to download and use their address template. You'll have the opportunity to check how the addresses look and it will warn you if any don't fit. We got response envelopes addressed too. It made everything so easy. The big difference between Minted and WPD is that minted lets you print on fancy colored envelopes and WPD are white or with a design if I remember correctly. We went w WPD because we liked the invites better but minted had nice options too. My BFF used minted and they came out great.

Thank you everyone! Minted has a deal where they'll print addresses on 100 for $30... my mom, sister and I tackled the STD's in 4 hours... I'll pay the $30 so we can spend 4 hours on something else!

@Masada, no - I manually typed them into WPD's site tool.

I used Minted for STD's and WPD for invites. I liked they're one format better for the style of the invites. It does help to use their excel template but you have to use the one they give. I thought the Minted envelopes were slightly higher quality but that may have been because they were craft. I had some issues with WPD that it would say the addresses didn't for even though you could tell by looking that they did. I ended up submitting the order and they printed fine.

Thanks everyone. I'm not planning on following invite addressing protocol by writing "Mr and Mrs first last" does anyone actually look at that or care? My thought was no but let me know your thoughts

Yes!! I had a $50 off coupon and only paid $12 to print 100. They turned out beautiful.

Looks like you've gotten some great advice, thought I'd throw in a funny/scary story from my printed envelope experience lol.

My MOH had the shower invites sent out in envelopes with the address printed. She started calling guests to make sure they'd received their invite because barely anyone (including my own mother) had not RSVPd. Turns out, quite a few guests thought it was junk mail and threw it away without opening because of the printed envelope! Needless to say, I opted for handwriting my wedding invite addresses lol.

I used Minted for both our STD postcards and holiday cards in envelopes. Very, very pleased with the result.

@Chelsea, OH MY GOD. I sincerely hope that doesn't happen. Maybe I'll stamp our home address stamp on the back for good measure.

Masada, my wedding is formal, and so I did address my invitations Mr. and Mrs. Joel Smith, or Mrs. Jane Doe-Smith and Mr. Joel Smith.

You can check out Emily Post for advice. WPD also has a section for this.

I did it for my invitations and am sooooo happy I did! It was a bit of a pain to input them all but I'm so glad I don't have to write them!

My wedding isn't super casual, after looking at WPD, it looks like I'm taking the more "modern" route of addressing envelopes, but still follows etiquette (thank god since I hit order this afternoon). Honestly, either way, I'm glad this is a relatively inexpensive service offered so I can spend more time with the ladies who offered to help stuff envelopes than addressing. Win win!

I was thinking about this as well. My idea was to use clear labels and find a nice font then print out at home. Is that tacky? Seems easier that doing each envelope.
