Prime rib or Sirloin steak?

Caitlin, on February 15, 2016 at 5:56 PM Posted in Planning 1 24

Hi Everyone!

So Fiance and I have been to two tastings at our venue, one for appetizers and one for main course. Our guests will have a choice between a veggie, beef, chicken, and fish entree. The food is very good and we have tried chicken, fish, and veggie dishes, but we have not had a chance to taste any of the beef dishes. We will not be able to attend another tasting before wedding for various reasons. Our choices for a beef dish are sirloin steak or prime rib. I am not really familiar with either of these cuts of beef. Any suggestions on which one we should choose and why?? Thanks in advance!! Smiley smile

Personally, I'd go for the Prime Rib. I'm a fan of Ribeye so, if I can't have that I will go to prime rib next. The flavor your get from the marbled cuts are my preference.

Sirloin is leaner, if the fat is trimmed well. I will eat one if there is good béarnaise sauce though.

    Primerib/ribeye

edit for why- because it's a fattier more delicious cut of meat

sirloin is bleck- leaner- easier to fuck up cooking and generally less tasty.

Prime rib will be a little more fatty which means it will be more juicy. Sirloin is a leaner cut. I prefer sirloin.

Prime rib! As others have said its marbled and a bit fattier which just gives the most amazing flavor. Sirloin, if not cooked perfect is just eh. You really can't go wrong with a prime rib.

Prime rib! I agree with @JoRocka, sirloin is easier to fuck up.

I will go with Prime rib. Too many things can happen and it doesn't matter how hangry you are NO guest should eat a cold or over cooked sirloin.

Are they cooking the steaks to order or all one temp? I would go with prime rib, as to me it is a luxurious choice. Edit-spelling

@JoRocka hahahaha your right! It is very tasty! Unfortunately fatty meats (even more so than regular fatty foods) effect my digestion poorly and can make me feel ill :-(

I prefer sirloin. It's one of the leanest cuts of meat. But I've had terrible prime rib at weddings before so I think that's why I'm a little biased.

Prime rib is a bit easier to do for a crowd.

I love both. I would prefer sirloin only if it was cooked to order since I would want it more rare than they would typically prepare for a large crowd. I think for prime rib would be better because it is good at any temperature.
