Price per plate

Maria, on April 29, 2020 at 3:07 PM Posted in Planning 0 13
Hi Brides!

I recently postponed my Saturday June wedding to a Thursday at the end of August due to the corona virus. ( No weekend dates were available)

The per plate price is cheaper on Thursday night but I am still being charged the Saturday rate. Should I negotiate this? I know venues have been hit hard during this, but it is also a big price difference. I would love to know your thoughts and what you would do.
Thank you!

I definitely would! Buuuuut they might make you still spend the same amount of money as your original contract.

What’s the difference between plates for the two dates? I would definitely try to get the new rate or at least get some upgrades, ya know?

I would try to negotiate!! Especially because it’s a Thursday night and they had no other weekends available for you. Maybe ask if they can meet in the middle with the price? Good luck!!

Would they allow you to switch to a Saturday date or no? If not, you should definitely pay the Thursday price. I'm sure the minimum is less too. You should get the price as if you were a Thursday bride. You should not meet in the middle.

If they were going to let you switch to a Saturday date, that is a little different story, but you shouldn't be paying the full Saturday price for a Thursday wedding regardless.

It’s a $50 difference so it definitely adds up. It’s definitely worth the try. Thank you for your advice 😀

Oh yeah, for sure bring it up! At the very least they should at least give you the Thursday pricing and the overall difference can go towards adding more people to your guest list to meet the original total spend minimum (if there was one in your original contract).

We asked for dates in August and September due to my fiancé job these were the only other months that would work for us. Due to all the postponements from corona Friday’s Saturday’s and Sunday’s are booked solid. That’s why I had to do the Thursday. Thank you for the advice, i hope it works out! 😀

I would definitely negotiate it or ask for an explanation. Everyone has been hit hard so just bring it to their attention!
