Preventing tan lines this summer?

FutureMrsWalton, on March 25, 2015 at 12:55 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

I'm wearing a strapless dress and my wedding is August 1. So I have about 2 months where I need to prevent tan lines! I already bought a strapless bathing suit, so I don't have that to worry about. I'm just worried about the rest of the summer where I won't be wearing one. I'm not going to go tanning, even for a base tan (people have suggested that). Does anyone have any ideas?

Always leave the house with sunblock on, maybe get a moisturizer that has spf in it.

I had this same issue last summer.

    1) Wear sunsceen all the same.

    2) Minimize your time outside in the high sun times.

    3) Cover yourself up as much as possible. My favourite is using a nice scarf to cover my arms and neck when I'm outside. Keeps the sun off my skin, but still keeps me cool.

    4) Wear a hat as much as possible.

I have tan lines year round because we vacation 4-5 time per year in Mexico. My dress won't show lines. To me, there is nothing that looks worse than a bride in strapless with tan lines so I'm so glad you're thinking about it! You could also get self tanner if you happen to have lines.

Other brides - remember to hide the tan lines please!

Go naked...or use sunscreen. Or both. Up to you really.

I've been worrying about this myself! I am outside a LOT in the summer time, typically with a sports bra and tank top (riding horses and running, usually just works out that its in the sun. lol) . I get the worst tan lines, for our engagement pictures I started tanning to try to blend it in and it worked a little bit. I'm going to have to be more cautious this year!

I have the same problem K&S has. I am a runner and I get the ugliest gradations in tan lines--darkest on my lower arms, lighter where a T-shirt would cover, even lighter where my running tank tops cover. I'm already developing the T-shirt tan line and it's only been like two weeks of decent running weather. And I wear sunscreen.

My plan right now is to avoid running outside in a t-shirt for as long as possible (wear long sleeves). And then to get a spray tan--I did this for my sister's wedding, and it helps blur the tan lines. It won't get rid of them totally, but a good person airbrushing the tan on (NOT a booth) will be able to layer it so the tan lines aren't as noticeable.

Do what everyone else is saying plus use a papaya soap or scrub. Papaya is actually known to make your skin color lighter, but whenever I use it on tans or sunburns it really evens out my skin color. I am a swimmer and water polo coach, so I can't escape the sun.

Wear sunscreen with a high spf and make sure you reapply regularly. Reapply every couple hours or more if you are sweating or getting wet.

Wear sunscreen high in SPF and find a reputable salon to spray tan anything that is uneven.
