Pressing forward

Miranda, on March 17, 2020 at 6:39 PM Posted in Planning 0 5
Are any brides keeping their date and moving forward? My venue has not canceled and guest list has always been less than 50.

May 23rd bride here. Waiting for a little bit. We aren't moving forward for sure, but we don't want to cancel yet.

To be harsh, public health and safety is paramount over anyone's wedding--even weddings for less than 50. In fact, I'm a professional in the wedding industry, and I've just advised all my brides and grooms to cancel or postpone their March and April weddings, and with everything that's just now come into effect, May weddings as well. We're about 10-14 days behind Italy when it comes to the virus and their initial casual feelings about the virus have now lead to a country-wide lockdown and hundreds of deaths. Contact between people (even those feeling totally fine) can spread the virus on to people who are at risk (immunocompromised in some way) super quickly, and in order to give medical professionals an opportunity to get a handle on things, staying home and not going to any non-essential appointments or outings is pertinent. They're closing down restaurants, bars, and theaters, and people get much closer (hugging, celebrating, sitting in aisles/pews) to each other at weddings than they do at those places, even with super small numbers.

This is definitely incredibly frustrating and I'm very sorry you've been put in this position, as I am with any other brides and grooms getting married anytime soon. Again though, I'd strongly suggest postponing.

We were April 25th and just postponed a few days ago. The CDC came out with new guidelines that say social gatherings should not exceed 10 people for the next 8 weeks.

Mine is scheduled for 4/18/20 and I called my venue (state park in Alabama) and they have not cancelled and said to just “wait” a few more days. I asked to postpone and they said they are not making new reservations at this time. It’s all just so crazy.
