Press and starch dress?

I picked my dress up from alterations today. They told me to take it to a dry cleaner's to have it pressed and starched prior to my wedding. Has anyone ever done this or heard of it?

    You need to ask them how much starch. There are different grades. You dont want to to be able to stand in the corner by itself!

    Hi Melissa! Lots of people will get their dressed dry cleaned before the wedding - but whether or not it needs to be steamed, pressed, or starched depends on the dress fabric! I'd look for a local dry cleaners that offers wedding dress services and see what they recommend for your specific dress!

    I'd call back and get their specific instructions. I wouldn't know about starching a dress, usually I hear about dresses being steamed. What material is your dress?
