Preserved Flowers vs. Real Ones

NikNak, on October 27, 2016 at 4:32 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

Have any of you ever used preserved flowers? My mom believes there is nothing that compares to a real flower arrangement/bouquet at a wedding and I'm partial to the cheaper cost of the preserved ones. She is assisting with the payment, though my FH and I are paying for the majority, so she has a say.

I've told her if it's in our budget after the big ticket items, I'd go real, but preserved seems like a good option to me. I've heard the idea of preserved flowers in places out of reach and real in places that hands can touch, which will still keep the cost down. But besides the feel/smell, is there really any difference?

What are everyone's thoughts? Thanks all Smiley laugh

I thought about this but decided I really wanted real flowers. To me; nothing compares but you have to do what is in your budget. Good luck!

For my wedding I would of sooner had no flowers than have fake ones. Real just brings an elegance that fake rarely can. With that being said, if you want fake and your mom wants real maybe you can compromise and have real bouquets but fake centerpieces or something? To cut down on floral cost we're doing every other table with flowers and the other tables with a nonfloral centerpiece such as lanterns. If you give a florist a budget, most can show you what they can do within that budget and it may actually end up cheaper than buying and arranging all those fake flowers yourself.

I've never heard of using preserved flowers. Wouldn't they be crinkly and dried, and the colors would be off, and they would be fragile? I've heard of using fake flowers, but not preserved ones.

@soon2bemrs, thanks I will definitely keep that in mind...

@annakay, the ones I was looking at are here: http://www.save-on-crafts.com/preserved.html

To me, if they actually look like their picture, they're really nice and look just like a new one, these are freeze dried so they are real, but preserved. But my plan was to buy a small selection of them first to see their quality before going crazy with everything else.

That's interesting. I had my wedding bouquet preserved, it was freeze dried, but they still do not look the same as when they were live! I'd buy some samples to see what you think.

There's something about fresh flowers that's so elegant to me so I've always been team flowers. Lol, I'm that weirdo at places who touches the floral arrangements to see if they're real lol.

We did Real Touch Silk and no one knew the difference! The florists I had looked at in the area of our wedding (destination) were ridiculously priced.

I'm 90% sure we'll use ecoflowers our daughter is highly allergic to the majority of flowers and she'd be miserable. They aren't to expensive, gorgeous, and last a long time.

I had silk flowers for my wedding and my florist made the bouquets. No one could tell the flowers were silk.
