Preserve Dress, thoughts?

Courtney, on July 17, 2020 at 11:12 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11

Hey girls- so it's been a few months since the wedding and I feel like I need to do something with my dress because it's just hanging out in my spare room.

It definitely still needs to be cleaned regardless. The only selfish reason I'm thinking of keeping my dress is it's my dress. That and there's that slim possibility I'll someday have a daughter/DIL who may want to use it in some way.

So I want to hear from you, did you preserve your dress and keep it? Did you resell it?

That is such a pretty dress. I kept mine but it’s just hanging in a garment bag I didn’t really do anything special with it. I have seen some people put it in a special frame or shadowbox to display

Thank you. Smiley laugh I've been back and forth for some time now about this. One day I want to keep it but then think, "why, it'll just be in a box taking up space?".

And then another day I'm thinking of reselling and think, "why, or a few extra bucks?". My dress was highly altered and I'm sure that would be a tough sell anyways.

Yea I have my days where I think about donating mine to a prom dress drive (my dress is an evening gown I got so it was really cheap) because it’s just otherwise gonna sit there in my closet

Beautiful dress! I would recommend at least getting it cleaned. I plan on cleaning and preserving mine after my wedding, though I'm not sure if I will choose to display it or keep it in a box in my closet.

I donated the dress from my first wedding about 3 months afterward. This time I’m either selling or donating. By the end of the night, the dress has served it’s purpose.

Since my dress is altered (4”7 tall me, 28E bra size) there is a very slim chance someone want to buy my dress, so I am planning to buy a display box similar to this:Preserve Dress, thoughts? 2
and add some other wedding details.

I'm turning my dress into a cocktail dress after the wedding so I get to keep wearing it! I don't want it just to sit in a box. That seemed live a waste of money to me. So I've drawn up some plans and will be shortening it to knee length, adding straps, changing the color and wearing it as often as I can!

I still have mine. I love it and don’t want to part with it...that’s me being sentimental. I got it preserved via David’s, so it’s in a display box...I can visit it every so often, lol.

I friend of mine cut off the bottom half of her skirt after the wedding before we did some bar hopping. And not like you're planning..... she literally took a pair of scissors after the reception and just hacked off the skirt at the knee. Her mom was mortified!
