Premarital Counseling

FH and I will be doing online premarital counseling. Has anybody tried that? If so, how was it and what website did you use?

I think it is a great and important thing to do. We actually spoke with my future wife’s mother as she is a marriage counselor (and didn’t charge us), but that’s probably not an option for most

We did it in person. It was a little difficult to find a time that worked for all 3 of us, but we got the 7 sessions done. I think online might be more convenient. Good luck! I'm glad FH and I went, we learned a few new things about each other.

Yes online works so much better for us because of our schedules plus a little more affordable than in person counseling.

Yes my dad is a pastor & him and my mom do premarital and marriage counseling all the time. But I’d rather have a person I don’t know or do it online. Parents can be kind of in your business too much in my case😂

Fair enough! I do think it’s a good idea to talk to someone though

As someone studying for my doctorate in psychology, I'd be more inclined to do in person. Some research is coming out on the efficacy of tele-psych, but unless the clinician is highly trained in that modality (which is really Veterans Affairs providers for the most part at this point), it may not be as effective as in-person.

Sounds like a great option! I haven't used, but especially assuming you have a video set up it could be good.

It was required for my first marriage as well as my husbands first marriage. Both were done by the preacher/priest that were officiating. Depending on your type of service and who is officiating yours, they may offer the service free of charge.
