Pregnant bridesmaid

Taylor, on June 26, 2019 at 11:09 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11
So I just recently found out one of my bridesmaids is pregnant with twins. I am over the moon excited for her. She will give birth 4-5 months before the wedding. I am just trying to figure out when the best time to take my bridesmaids shopping is. I don’t want her to be huge pregnant when she tries on dresses cuz obviously she won’t even know what it will look like on her post baby body. So do I take her before she gets her baby belly or do I have her go post babies and just pray it comes in time for the wedding? I need help here I just want her to feel as comfortable as possible with the dress process. (Side note she just keeps telling me to do it when I want to and she’ll just get one 2 sizes bigger then she normally wears. I’m just worried it will not even kind of fit her if she does it that way.)

HELP!!!

Maybe go for a style that is more empire waisted to allow for changes in her figure. You can order now and she can have the bridal shop allow for the extra room that might be needed and then alterations closer to the wedding should take care of it. Congrats to both of you.

That’s what I was thinking I am letting them all pick their own dresses aside from length and color so maybe I will push her in that direction. Thank you

I think it depends on where you're getting them from. If you are buying from David's Bridal, the dresses usually come in within 2-4 weeks so that would be plenty of time. They are also pretty good with exchanges. My MOH found out she was pregnant after she bought her dress and will be 6 months pregnant at the wedding. They exchanged her dress for a different size without any issues.

I would definitely buy the dress after the babies. There is no way of her knowing how her body will be 4 months after having twins. Some women lose all the weight in that time & some can have 40lbs left to go for example. I’d look for places that have shorter turnaround, or offer size exchange, as pp mentioned.

Empire waist line will help any problems fitting. I say get a size now but don't order until 5 months out. David's has maybe a month lead time where I am so if you order there itll be there 4 months early incase. She can probably do a size up and get it taken in around 2 months before the wedding.

That’s what I was thinking but it makes me nervous because when I was in her wedding they initially sent me the wrong size dress then when I got the second one they had cut it with a box cutter when opening the box of dresses so I ended up getting mine the same month of the wedding and had to rush alterations. But maybe I’ll have her get it early as long as they will exchange it if doesn’t fit her post baby. Thank you!

My SIL used Azazie and they actually have quite a few styles that are specifically maternity. You could give them a length/color and just let all the girls pick whatever they want! Then everyone is getting something they feel good in. They also offer custom sizing for no additional charge which definitely cuts down on or eliminates the need for alterations!!!!

Do not have her order a dress now. Even if she is back to her pre-pregnancy size her body will very likely change shape. I would wait as long as possible to ensure that her dress fits her well. I'm using Azazie for my girls and you usually get the dress in about a month, even with custom sizing.

One of my bridesmaid just had a baby and another is due in August and we have about 5 months left before the big day. For the BM that just had a baby, I have talked with the place where we are ordering dresses from.. of course they say order sooner rather than later, but I am letting them take as long as they need. I have no fear of "rush ordering" if we need too and they know to have an alterations place lined up in case something doesn't fit. I am also letting them pick their own style as one just had baby #4 whereas the other one it's her first.. so they will all have their own insecurities.
