Pregnant Bride

Taylor, on June 21, 2020 at 7:00 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 19
So we had to Push our wedding back because of covid and I will now be just at 6 month pregnant at the wedding which isn’t ideal but I’m ok with it, however I want to wear my wedding dress so badly but don’t know what the best route to go for alterations would be. Any ideas are welcomed!!! It fit me so perfectly before I got pregnant I didn’t need anything but a hem and bustle 😭😭Pregnant Bride 1

I should also Add that our venue will not allow us to move to next year without us forfeiting all of the money that we already paid for our wedding

Oh gosh! I think only a professional seamstress and tailor would let you know how they can let it out enough if possible.
What a beautiful gown though! And congratulations

This looks like a form fitting dress so I honestly don't know if you will be able to wear it pregnant. Seamstresses normally can take a dress up a size or two.

That was what I figured but I wasn’t sure if anyone had ever had to make similar alterations and just wanted ideas to throw at the seamstress lol. Thank you so much!!

It is, the seamstress seams pretty hopeful that we can make it work so I’m gonna hold on to that hope as long as possible. We figured if necessary we could take it out and change the back to make it even a little more giving.

I hate to say it but I agree with the pp. A mermaid won't work I do not think with a pregnancy but see what the seamstress says. I think exchange for an a line or ballgown. If the seamstress can work her magic then awesome.

Yeah I’m gonna keep the faith lol. Unfortunately there is no exchange so I would have to purchase a whole new dress

Ha ha ha well if it were me I would just wear it and put some long extensions in the back to cover the zipper ha ha. Hence why I am dieting because I wanna fit into my dress well. Giving up wine for two weeks and back to smoothies as I am doing well but this weekend had some carbs.

Your best option would be to have corset back.

It looks like the bodice is sheer.... you might lose that detail but I’m positive it will still be pretty with a nice satin under layer and lace on top.

I think it’s hard for any of us to make a claim on what will or won’t work. In part because it all depends on you, your body, and your baby. I’ve seen women at six months hardly showing, and then I’ve seen the opposite. It seems you’ve found a seamstress. How well do you know/trust her work? And then trust her to work her magic. I do think a corset back would help.

Or is but it’s only like that in the back and honestly I like it but I know it will be beautiful even if it’s not sheer anymore

Same here! I am considering just buying a new dress. My dress is sooo form fitting that I dont know if theres anything they can do. Was thinking of doing like a “first look” photoshoot with my original dress before I get too big so that way I at least get to use it. You can see if they can let it out in the stomach area but the problem is as someone else mentioned theres no way to tell how much youll be showing cause everyones different

That dress is beautiful! What other people said about adding a corset back makes sense to me. I also have two other ideas. 1. If you're okay with changing the silhouette a little bit, the seamstress might be ableyou raise the waistline so it's more like an A-line than a trumpet style.
    2. You could contact the designer to ask if they're willing to sell you any of the material (especially the lace/embroidery) so the seamstress could add fabric wherever it's needed.

Add a corset back to the dress! Best of luck!

Corset backs are the most forgiving in terms of fluctuating sizes. I'd see if your seamstress can add one.

I'm not sure how much a corset back will help if you gain weight other than your belly (like around your hips) but your seamstress should know. Good luck and congrats!
