This article I find highly irresponsible. There are a lot of catch-your-interest articles with whopper problems. Most would lead to people having a disagreement, or a great surprise.
But this article writes of people who must put off marriage, pandemic, who want to take advantage of time off work together. Beat that baby window they feel closing. It is an important issue, and people bring it up. But WW

Your post/criticism of the article is unclear--can you clarify what your issue is with it?

Continued: WW writer here never points out a serious possible danger. Since Few people got Covid before May, no one has gone a full 9 month pregnancy after having it in the early stages, conception to 20 weeks particularly. People may all depends on vaccines here. But I have worked with many people born in late 1940's through early 1960's conceived when Mom got Rubella while conceiving or first few months carrying the baby. Look in Wiki under Congenital Rubella Syndrome. I have 2 older cousins, deaf, blind, and developmentally delayed from this. With congenital heart disease, their is a huge risk of 2 or more of the 4 things. As much as 1 out of 2 babies conceived at some stages. And Zika people may remember as a tropical disease in the last 4 years, when brains are tiny of missing whole sections, your senses and ability to think do not exist in many of these babies. ...... There are many viruses, several controlled or with vaccines now, that have had huge numbers of babies with birth defects.
People who worry about possible Down Syndrome with older mom's, should worry. Imagine viruses that have 10 or 20 times more likelyhood of severe neirological damage in earl years in utero.
CDC and WHO have published things no one seems to think about. But in the first year of any new, contagious vorus where we have no idea of possible serious birth defects, people SHOULD weigh this danger. Until late next spring, or summer, we do not know. The earliest wave was more elderly and sick people. But now more women of child bearing age are getting sick. Ofyen, not knowinw it is on their sysyem til after a baby could be started. WW, and any poster discussing the advantages of using time out of work to Try to Conceive, TTC here, should know of the danger in the first year. Some viruses, no problem. Some we do not know cause problems at all. But if Covid, like Rubella or Zika does cause blindness, deafness, heart problems, and very limited function or missing, undeveloped brain areas, this needs to be covered in any discussion or article.A person could read the one in the top link, and think TTC now is a very good idea. Few children are getting the virus. But look at the horribly seripus course it takes in some under 5 year olds. Think of a baby you jave wanted growing inside you a month, then you get Covid. During Brain, or sensory organ development, malformed or shrunken eyes, bad nerves, or differentiation of limbs causing problems with arms and legs, for a lifetime. .... I wish WW would have the author of this fluff article show the other side, the danger. We are not talking Etiquette faux pas here.

Covid is a respiratory disease...coronaviruses also cause the common cold. I don't think it's reasonable to expect people to put off TTC for years. This isn't Zika. Around 2,000 people under 35 have died from Covid in the US (it was around 1600 in mid-June so I'm extrapolating a bit). I wouldn't have a baby before marriage, and I'm not in a rush anyway, but I think your criticism is a bit much.

Yes it is a respiratory disease. But many viruses and bacteria have strong and different effects on developing embryos or fetuses, than on children or adults. But at the very least, it can cause high temperatures in the sick mom, and a lowering of available oxygen, or varying amounts as treated, not a good thing for developing. Tracking as they are, this should not mean postponing for years and years. But may make it something to consider, and wait til we know how babies born to women who test as having had it, are after birth and in the first year. We all hope for a treatment or a vaccine, within the first 2 years. But a lot of people do not realize the huge number of babies with birth defects that used to be born to moms with viral and bacterial infections, simply because vaccines and antibiotics have minimized the problem. Covid in its present form is new. It is a risk to consider.
